How much GMAT score matters for McKinsey, BCG, Bain?

If GMAT will be older than 5 years by graduation and recruiting process, will it hurt chances or will companies ask for retaking test?

It matters, but I don't have a way to quantify how much. It won't matter how old it is. The 5-year expiration is only for MBA admissions.

It just doesn't work this way. I know friends with 780+ that didn't get an interview, and I know friends with 650-700 who work at MBB. It's just one data point that's considered.

Agree. But no one said anything contrary to your point.

Also depends on a variety of factors:
1) which school you attend
2) work experience (career switching vs previous consulting background)
3) networking
4) how good you are
5) luck
