After reading through this thread, would it even be necessary to go for an MBA if your goal is to get into M&E post-graduation? I have an eclectic/non-traditional background (ranging from undergrad/a few years in theatre to education management/consulting to logistics/operations for a start up) and am looking to use an MBA to propel me back into M&E. Would it be more advisable to go through a certificate program and start at a ground level job instead of going through an MBA program? Ultimately, I am very interested in and would like to work in TV at the intersection of creative and business (marketing, brand development, etc.). Any thoughts?
Also, is an MBA completely useless if one wants to go into artist management? In my mind, the skills from an MBA could only significantly add to the services you are able to offer an artist. It could also be an incredibly beneficial set of skills to have as a good number of Management companies have producing/development branches, making you a useful asset on the business end while learning the artist side.
Lastly, can anyone speak to people beginning in a business department within the Entertainment industry and leveraging that job to combine the business with the artistic and become an executive in Development or Programming or something similar?
