I just got invited to interview and will be heading there in two weeks. Do the applicants that have already interviewed have any insight they'd like to share? I'll be flying in to interview with Elisa Lee.

Any information is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Wandering,

I just went through the interview process last week with Elisa (pending a decision so fingers crossed!). She had already prepared some questions specific to my application. But, other than that it was pretty standard-

1. walk me through your resume
2. why now?
3. short term/long term goals
4. why mba
5. if you got into all your schools, what would you do?

My interview lasted around an hour (including 4 or 5 questions that I asked at the end). This was my first interview, so I was a bit nervous. Overall it was a great learning experience and everyone was really friendly. Congrats and good luck!

By the way, where are you flying from?

Thank you, Maple!! This will be extremely helpful. I'm not flying too far...coming in from Northern California, but I will be in and out within 6 hours. Best of luck!

Hey! I, interviewing with Elisa too next week. May I ask what sort of questions she had prepared? I just went through a supposedly comprehensive interview at another school and it was obvious from the start that the interviewer was not well prepared and barely glanced over my file.
Did she focus on work experience or inquire about other aspects such as academic history or personal questions?
Any insight would be super helpful!

Thanks :)

Hi Sashahappy,

Elisa mostly asked me questions about my trajectory, basically how I would utilize Irvine to get my dream job. Questions included where i would envision myself spending my summer internship and why not a different type of masters. It was a very friendly conversation but do be prepared to discuss all aspects of your application and make sure you spend a lot of time researching details about your future goals.

Good luck!!

Hi!

Elisa asked me a lot of questions about my resume and wanted me to go into detail about the specific duties involved in certain positions. She also wanted to know about my short and long term goals and why an MBA [from UCI] was needed to achieve these goals. Be prepared to show her that you have put lots of thought into your goals, too. She will also want to discuss any weaknesses in your application. I didn't have the best GMAT score and it was a topic we spent some time on.

Elisa definitely seemed prepared for my interview. I think if you review everything Maple and I mentioned, you should be good to go!

Best of luck!
