Hey guys,
In my past couple of MG GMAT CATs, I have scored 47 & 48 in quant, which is awesome, but I really want to get 50/51.
I noticed that in the MG GMAT the math questions are back-to-back tough and are relentless, not giving much room to breathe. And in the GMAT Prep, there are some hard questions, but also loads of easy ones.
Q: To get a 50+, how many of those '700-800' level MG GMAT problems will you typically encounter?
The reason I ask this is for time allocation... I know I can solve some of these problems, but not too confident if it has to be within 2minutes. If there are only a handful of super hard ones, then I will feel a lot better spendign 3-4 minutes on them!

Hi,
Both the MGMAT CAT and the GMAT Prep CAT are computer adaptive, which means that if you get a hard math question wrong, you'll get an easier question afterward. Without knowing how you scored on your GMAT Prep test, I would assume that the reason you were getting easier questions there was because you got some of the really difficult ones wrong, whereas you were getting most of the 700-800 level questions right on the MGMAT exam.
Remember, though, that it's not about how many questions you get right or wrong, but rather what ability level those questions are at. Even people who score a perfect 800 still get questions wrong. That's the nature of the test. So, don't focus on getting 50+ questions right, focus on trying to get those harder questions!

Actually the original post's question is a legit one... I too want to know for those who got a 50/51 on quant, how many "hard" (750+) questions would you say you might encounter?
I expect about maybe 4-6 total... but that's just a guess.
Also, a corollary to the above: even if you get right, say, two 750+ level questions in a row, does the next question necessarily have to be another 750+ question? Can it jump back to a 700-level question or even a 650-level question??
