I scored 51 in Math section of GMAT. For me, only first 4-5 questions were real easy.. Rest all needed some thinking... in between I kept getting 1 - 2 easy questions too... but overall it wasnt simple.. at the end 2-3 ques i thought were reasonably easy... In practice tests, I generally had 10-15 mins to spare, in actual GMAT only 5 or so mins.

I remember seeing a post that tested GMAT Prep. And if I recall correctly, he said that you could only miss ~5 questions to pull a 50 in quant? Is this correct?

Or, like Cclay said, is it possible to miss, let's say, 10 questions in quant (albeit hard questions) and still obtain a 50?

i don't think anyone knows the answer to this. besides the fact that we don't know the exact GMAT scoring algorithm, there are also a number of ungraded experimental questions sprinkled throughout the test. you could presumably get all the experimental questions wrong and still get a perfect score. or you might get all the experimental questions wrong + some real questions wrong and get a great score. the problem is that you'l l never know which ones were experimental and which ones weren't.

In my limited experience, getting 50 with 10 wrong may be possible but only if most of those ques turn out to be those not marked for u... if they are marked for u and u keep making errors, the ques level will keep going down n if many of ur ques r easier ones, scoring a 50 will be tough.. just my two cents.
i know i had one ques incorrect definitely.. i might have had another 2-3 incorrect but definitely nothing more than that, i m quite sure...

Wow, okay I just took the GMAT Prep and surprisingly I got a Q50 with missing 10 questions. I missed 6 out of last 9 questions, interesting. I thought I was doing horribly too. Maybe I just can't let it get in my head while testing.
