As an FYI for the US school ranking, Johnson usually ranks below Ross, hence the scholarship. However, if you feel cornell and johnson have a stronger ring to them in Europe (I am not a good judge here), then it is definitely a plus.

As to consulting, it IS HARD to break into it as an international. Not because you are an international but there are side barriers. Obviously some don't hire H1B candidates but even those who do, the competition is stiff. The one who have good success rate are those who come from consulting background. Being client ready is a big priority and with so many applicants, consulting firms can be picky. I feel your chances for consulting would be about equal with Ross and Johnson. I feel Ross is more leaning towards tech these days (in addition to consulting) and Johnson still has a leaning towards finance.

I a possible good path if you are looking to stay in SCM is Tech. Amazon, Walmart, and lots of other tech retailers have been hiring heavy for their SCM jobs. These tend to be less sexy than tech PM roles and it is easier to stand out and to break in too. Salaries are often equivalent to the PM roles... Slight advantage towards Ross but with the uncertainty, I think Johnson would not be a mistake by any means, esp with the scholarship bump.

Thank you for your feedback, appreciate it!

Regarding rankings - I see Cornell a few spots higher than Ross almost everywhere (BloomBerg, FT, etc.). Not sure which is the ranking list everyone uses.

It will be a tough choice either way, it's difficult to turn down money from an Ivy League school.

Ross would be the better bet here, considering your goals. The Cornell scholarship is good, but have you analyzed what the actual $ difference would be between the two programs over two years? I think that's a better financial comparison.

FYI - Cornell is NOT a higher-ranked program than Ross. :) Not sure how the Ivy league prestige plays out in your geography, but in the US, most in MBA circles would put Ross a tier above Cornell.

Good luck!

Thanks for your thoughts! As mentioned in the other reply, I see Cornell ranked higher. For example, Bloomberg ranks Johnson #11 vs. Ross #17.
Not sure what's the best ranking, but in many places I see Cornell higher.

In terms of cost of attendance - they are virtually the same, so the scholarship gives Cornell the edge there.
At the same time Ross may be better for my goals, though I feel Cornell isn't behind in consulting - 30% of class still goes into that field.

It will be a difficult choice for sure..

The most comprehensive rankings for the US programs are US news rankings. Definitely imperfect but closer to reality than what you have quoted. I don’t want to get into the debate of rankings but just pointing out the generally accepted perspective in the US

Well, in US News (which is considered to be the most widely accepted and credible ranking list), Ross is currently #13 whereas Cornell is #15. Ross has been a solid T15 school whereas Cornell is more of a T15-20 school that has recently broken into T15. Anyhow, rankings and prestige only matter so much and I think the school that provides better outcomes and culture fit should be your priority (besides $$).

Since I plan to pursue consulting, MBB recruitment nos. are a good way to put together my own ranking. Usually, this list coincides considerably with the US News Ranking.
The M7 offer unparalleled access to MBB recruitment, whilst schools ranked in the 8-15 range such as Tuck, Fuqua, Stern, Darden, and Ross have decent numbers recruiting for MBB.
The figure for Cornell is a tad lower - 5-8% of the class against 12-15% in schools such as Ross.
SCM is more an open field.

Ross

If you want to be in consulting, Ross will get you more interviews for better located offices and prep you better. I suggest Ross over Johnson, even w/ the scholarship.
