When would the classes start for MIT SDM ? Which month ?

Virtual Information Session Video uploaded at You Tube says “ SDM Course begins two weeks prior to Labor Day” , which means around August -18. “First Two weeks would be of Boot Camp. So actual classes should begin after boot camp . Boot camp attendance is mandatory for all ; in class students, distance learning and certificate students.”

Any interviews or additional information guys?

As per blogs from previous years , Two interview questions appear to be consistent

1. Why SDM and why now ?

2. How do you manage conflicts ?

I think these questions are mainly to check the program fit.

Thank you. Very useful information.

Does anybody know the % of students who are interviewed who are admitted?

With my small research , I must say Ad Com could be interviewing roughly 2-3 candidates for every seat , which means chances for securing final spot would be around 33%-50%.

I also recently completed my interview with the adcom. It was more like a discussion and getting to know about me better. The questions were mostly about the experience and the usual why SDM. Since my GMAT score was low, I had a question about that as well. Overall, it was a great experience

Hello guys,
Did anyone hear back from adcom. Any idea when is the supposed decision date?

My interviewer told me that decisions will be communicated between 9th and 16th March.

Thank you very much. Here is my brief background.

Gmat: 730
Work experience: 12years in semiconductors industry. 6years in Sandisk India and 6 years in Samsung electronics south korea.
Bachelor's degree in Elerical engg. Gpa: 3.9/4. Topped the class.
Master's degree in IC design. CGPA: 9.57/10. Topped the class.
Essay: About entrpreneurship in electronics manufacturing business.

Hi friends,

I must say, this forum has really helped and kept me motivated so thank you to everyone who has posted their SDM admission experiences.

I thought it only fair to share mine:
I applied in R1, interviewed 12-Feb and waitlisted 19-Mar

. The adcomm says that I will be evaluated with R2 applicants and will received admission notification in April.

All the best to everyone else who is still waiting and please keep us updated!

P.S. Are there any applicants from Africa who are still waiting for a decision or who have received a decision?

I have no inputs on how shortlisting works.

As for the interview, it was fairly casual. Lasted about 45 minutes. It was just a general chat trying to get to know me. Questions such as: why SDM, what does systems engineering mean to me, how have I encountered systems engineering in my job, where do I see myself in five years, how will SDM help me to achieve my career aspirations, what electives do I have in mind, etc.

I do not know of a GMAT cut-off. My understanding is that there is no cut-off.
