Are you sure? Because I'm fairly positive the website states you DO NOT get a degree, just a certificate from MIT.

Hi All,

Is the MIT MBA comparable to Tsinghua-MIT Global MBA?

I spoke to a couple alums from Tsinghua-MIT MBA and they both claim that its the "same as an MIT MBA degree", and that only difference is in the location. In fact, they both have an MBA from MIT listed on their Linkedin (in addition to Tsinghua, listed separately).

Do you get a degree from MIT when completing the Tsinghua-MIT Global MBA? Or, are both these alums just overreaching here?

How hard is it to get into the Tsinghua-MIT Global MBA program? Same GMAT / GPA average as MIT Sloan MBA?

Thanks for insight.

Hello,

So, this is a double degree program. You are 1 year each in both universities and you get an MBA degree from Both universities. I believe that is why those allumns comments were correct, because they knew the situation from personal experience.

I am accepted for this year intake for Tsinghua's MBA, and I can say that it is hard to enter and you need a good GMAT score, but it is the most worth it place to try for. However, they don't look only for this. They care about your background, your drive, your motivation, your work experience, job position, future job oportunities, they want the whole package because Tsinghua offers a classroom full of already driven people that are on the path to success, at least mentally.

There are many things to say, so if you are interested in anything in particular you can follow up on this.

Kind Regards

You have GMBA where you only get a certificate. this is if you don't go to USA and study only in China. Then you get credits and because you are taught by MIT teachers you get a certificate.

In the MIT-Tsinghua MBA you get from both because you have studied 1 year in MIT.

They are the same program but you can apply to go directly to MIT for your second year and that is what makes it MIT dual degree.

It all depends on your ambitions and what you want. In general no organisation will care if it is just a certificate or a degree, they don't even require from you to show originals anyways.

Got it. So is the difficulty of getting into Tsinghua-MIT MBA just as difficult as getting into MIT Sloan? In other words, I'm trying to understand if the value of a Sloan degree is equivalent or similar to a MIT-Tsinghua MBA. What is their ranking?

I can only tell you my own thoughts about this.

I believe the difficulty of getting in is the same(GMAT interview etc) but the cost of education is different, MIT being more expensive. However, in Tsinghua-MIT MBA you can get a scholarship more easily. Another plus for us, western people, is the exposure to the Asian market which is the future and that brings the most value in my opinion.

Regarding ranking, both are considered technical, engineering universities and MIT is 6th while Tsinghua is 5th in the world. Business major is another story, but they are both supported and well resourced.
