let widgets with Moira be x
thus withJoe the total will be 1.6x
now as per given question
1.25(1.6-k)= x+k
solve for x
2x-x= 2.25k
or x= 2.25 K
hence E

Let us simplify the question by taking k as 100..
M = x, so J=1.6x
J gives 100 to M, so 1.25(1.6x-100)=x+100 => 5(1.6x-100)=4(x+100)
8x-500=4x+400.....4x=900....x=225

Substitute k as 100 in the choices, so ans is E

let M = x
J=1.6x
so
x+k=1.25*(1.6x-k)
x=2.25k
