Hi
I am doing pretty good in SC and CR but in RC my accuracy is around 70%, i have often noticed this that while reading a passage which is not interesting or if i get some difficult words in the beginning of it which am not used to, i get distracted very easily , often get lost in the middle of RC.
What is the best way to increase my focus and concentration in RC?
Ps- I do make notes while reading, also i take around 8-10 minutes to understand the RC and then i answer the questions in about 30-40 seconds each.
Hi prateekbhatt,
70% accuracy is good and with a little practice you can surely improve further. This means your strategy to tackle RC is good. As far as the distraction is concerned, if you try to focus more on the structure of the passage and how the thoughts/ viewpoints are flowing, you may find it easier to stay more focused. I also used to take notes on RC and CR and it greatly improved the comprehension and with practice I got more efficient at it. You will also get more efficient in it just stay focused and keep practicing.
You may also try to read a couple of articles on the content areas that you find difficult on GMAT RC. You should try some resources in the post below if you have not done already.

Hi Vercules
Your posts are always helpful, I will try to read more and more....I have completed verbal review 2nd ed, now will work on OG(my target is to move from 70% to 95%+ accuracy because people say that its possible to achieve 100% accuracy in CR and RC).
But i have also noticed this that if i try to read fast i miss the flow and meaning of the passage and later while readng the questions i had to go back to the passage which wastes a lot of time....So this is the reason i spend good time on the Root of the passage and then may be a easy question can be answered in less than 30 seconds....
Regarding question break up i have 100% accuracy in Inference, main idea, authors tone but less than 40% accuracy in Logical structure and supporting ideas....
Gotto work on these two..Do we have something specific to these?
Thanks
