Hi Dinesh654,

Based on all the information you provided, I think you may need more than 20 days to improve by 80 points. While I understand that you have pinpointed timing as an issue, generally, timing issues are more related to content issues. With all this in mind, would you be able to push back your GMAT, give yourself more time prep, and take the GMAT once you are truly ready to do so?

Hi Dinesh654,

Many GMATers face pacing issues in the Quant section, the Verbal section or both – so you are not alone. However, it's important to remember that pacing problems do NOT exist on their own - they're the results of OTHER problems. Most GMAT questions are written so that they can be approached in more than one way, so it's possible that 'your way' of working through questions is often the 'long way' (or there might be other inefficiencies in how you are working). You do NOT need to be a fast reader and you do NOT need to understand every word that you read to score at a high level in the Verbal section, but you do have to develop certain skills and approach the Verbal section in a specific way. Strategically skipping-past a few questions can be quite beneficial, but that too has to be approached in a certain way if you are looking to maximize your overall Score.

In addition, each CAT/mock is really a 'measuring device' - when used correctly, it will give you a realistic score and help define your strengths and weaknesses, but it will NOT help you to fix any of those weaknesses. To raise your scores, you have to learn the necessary Tactics and put in the proper practice and repetitions. The CAT will show you whether your studies are helping you to improve or not. In addition, the process of taking (and reviewing) a CAT requires a significant amount of energy and effort - and takes time to 'recover' from. This is one of the reasons why you typically should not take more than 1 CAT per week - and your last CAT should be taken about 1 week before Test Day. Going forward, you really should not take more than 1 FULL CAT per week.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
2) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
3) What is your overall goal score?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Thanks for the detailed analysis.

Answering to your questions:-
I have used materials only for Verbal. I hve used Gmatwhiz- verbal (complete course), TTP for a month to fill gaps. I only took 3 mocks- I took first one on november 2021 Mgmat's - got 450 something, V06 Q40. next I took after 8 months on aug. 12, 2022. Mgmat's- I got 590- V31, Q41.
last one was an official mock, took yesterday, got 600, Q45 V27.

Goals:
My desired score is 680.
I will be applying for MiM's programs in LBS, HEC, Essec B Schools.
This year 2022. Round 1.

You are absolutely right, but I have been pushing this for a year now. I would like to give my best and take the test to see how far I can go.
Also, I want to see the real day test experience. I have no idea about the process and the mental stress. So, There will be something to learn.
even I still don't come close to my score, I'll take another 1-2 months to prepare and will target round 2.

Hi Scott,
You are right.
I gave another mock, got a 630, V27 and Q49. I got around the same score. I think I would need another few months of intense study to lift my score by 7-8 points in Verbal. If anyone from TTP can give me an advice on how to prepare next, It will be a big help. I have also sent you a PM.
Thanks.

Yes, but no improvements on verbal, I actually struggled more this time. I have to find a way to atleast attempt first 30 questions "comfortably" and to buid stamina so that when reach question 20-21, I don't panic. Right now I am able to attempt 23-24 questions comfortably.
