Hello experts,
On december 2021, I took my first free mock and I got a V6 and Q40 (It was manhattan's, didn't wanted to ruin officials)
After 8 months (4-5 hours per day) of prep,I decided to take the Manhattan's free mock again (8 months- didn't remember anything). I got V31 and Q41.
Today, I took my first official mock. I tried to take the test under same conditions (No pauses, took two 8 minutes of break, did IR and AWA seriously) and the result is not satisfying to me. I got exact 600, the split is Q46 and V27 and IR -5. I was expecting Q49 and V31+. I found official mock tougher than Manhattan's, I was slower in official one than
Mgmat's. Anyways, I know I didn't give my best.
I would like to discuss my time management strategies for quant and verbal. After reading so many articles about the algorithm, I know noone knows the exact coding, but I decided to Focus on the quaters.
For verbal, I thought I will give most focus to quarter 1 and 2 (Q1 & Q2) and will be selective on Q3 and Q4, because I read an article from Bunuel, where he mentioned Q4 is less important than Q1 and Q2. Another reason is I am a slow reader. My speed is slow, meaning there is no way for me to attempt all 36 question, not even 30 questions. I got good accuracy on Q1 and Q2 but, I was so concerned about my time on Q3 that I got nervous. I couldn't even focus on questions that I could have gotten right. I couldn't comprehend there. I got 2 RCs in Q3 . I attempted 3rd RC faster than usual, surprisingly I got all 3 wrong eventhough I understood it completly, I didn't give ample time to read for purpose. I never get all 3 question wrong in an RC unless I skip it. I skipped 4th RC (I usually do, I can't attempt all 4). I got selective on Q4 and only attempted SCs (I have faith on my SC skills). As you can see on the attached file I got 8 consecutive questions wrong in Q3.
1. For a V35, Please give your valuable suggestions on, How should I manage my time effectively (according to my skill set- slow reader)?
2. I skipped 9 questions, whats the most efficient way of skipping 8-9 questions- On Q1, Q2,Q3 and Q4(because I can't even attempt 30 questions)?
3. Is there still a way for me to score V33-35? I think I can, maybe I am wrong.
4. I am planning to take the test in 20 days, Is it possible to increase the score by 80 points (aiming for 680), by building stamina by taking more mocks? how much can I improve by taking more mocks? For quant, It wasn't my best, made many silly mistakes, DS is my weakness. I took a gap from quant (only practicing verbal for 2 months).
still I would like to know your suggestions on "how to tackle DS questions".
I am also attaching a pdf - I tried to make a custom ESR (I hope its helpful.)
Please comment and share your thoughts, I know there are many students, who can benefit from your feedbacks.
Thank you
