What's your accuracy when you do verbal practice questions untimed?

Hi MartyTargetTestPrep,

My accuracy is around 90% when I practice untimed.

Just to update my information, today I did my second official prep exam and I had 690. My score is improving! I'm just 10 points away from my goal.

SC is still my worst section, I improved my CR and RC. But my "basics" mistakes in SC are hurting my score.

Hi kmacho90,

Depending on how long you have been scoring at this current level (around 640), you might need far more than just another week of training time before you will be able to consistently score 700+. It's also worth noting that there are a variety of different Quant and Verbal Scaled Score 'combinations' that will earn you a 700+, so the idea that you have to focus solely on the Verbal section to pick up those additional points is not correct. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

EMPOWERgmatRichC,
Thanks for your comments!!

Here are the answers to your questions:

1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week? I have been studying for 4 months, with these 3 last weeks being very intensive (7 hours per day)
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used? I took the Target Test Prep plan, for 3 months and my plan ended about 1 month ago. Additionally, during those months I did every official question from OG 2019. Since then, I'm studying from GMAT CLUB tests (my scores vary a lot. The worst was 540 and the best one is 640). I also have been doing KAPLAN CATs. In addition, I have done 2 official test preps from mba.com 640 and 690.
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

8/3. GMAT CLUB CAT....................20 Verbal. 35 Quant. 2 IR
8/12. Kaplan Diagnostic test.........29 Verbal. 46 Quant. 3 IR
8/18. Kaplan 2nd Test..................33 Verbal. 47 Quant. 5 IR
8/23. Official Test prep MBA.COM..32 Verbal. 47 Quant. 5 IR
8/26. Official Test prep MBA.COM..34 Verbal. 49 Quant. 4 IR

I'm planning on doing one CAT per day until next Wednesday mixing official tests, Kaplan CATs, and GMAT Club tests.

4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

I'm looking to the top schools in the US and Europe (Wharton, Harvard, MIT, Stanford, LBS, INSEAD, HEC). I think that my application will be strong because I have a good resume and good undergraduate grades, but it all depends on my GMAT exam. I also read that for Latin Americans the GMAT requirement is lower than for the rest of the world (I don't know if it is true, but I really want to believe it). I want to apply for the second round, to start my MBA in FALL 2023.

Nice work!

So, now that you know about SC, be super careful and intense when you answer an SC question.

SC is all about noticing things. So, keep asking yourself, "What do I need to see here?" when you do an SC question, and maintain awareness that there could be basic errors that you need to pick up on.

My GMAT exam is in one week and I'm still far away from my goal. HELP! [#permalink]
Hi EMPOWERgmatRichC and MartyTargetTestPrep, sorry to not have answered before. Today I did my official exam and my score was 640. Quant 48 and verbal 29. I feel like a could score more points, so I will retake the exam in one more month.

I also bought the ESR, so I can identify my weaker points. Im really going to give my best to score 700+
