­I have attached below my official GMAT test scores after all my prep...I want to, at the least, get a 90th percentile on my actual test but really wishing and working for a 93rd/95th percentile. Please look at my overall and individual section scores and advise me if it's the right time to attempt the real GMAT for the first time. I have tried to go through all my errors and weak areas as much as I can and I feel I am at the peak of my potential right now as much as I ever will be. I am afraid delaying my exam further for more prep time might make me fatigued and underperform on the actual test but I am open to suggestions! Any input from Forum members is appreciated!

I think you are well in the target zone of score. If you don't panic in the exam, you will easily be able to achieve your target score of 93/95%ile.

If you can share your insights about how you have improved the DI section. I am stuck at 81 in DI from last 2 mocks.

­I am happy to inform that the results exceeded my target and I achieved a 98th percentile (695Q85V88DI80) in the actual test!
What I can share as a suggestion is that my whole score progression changed dramatically once I changed my order of sections. Officially GMAC has not come out and said anything about whether the Focus edition is section-adaptive but I certainly felt it in my mocks as well as my actual test. (Credit to E-gmat for putting this info out there from their internal analytics in the panel discussions on GMAT Day (4th May, 2024)

I used to always do Q -> V -> DI in my mocks and it used to be an uphill battle to cross the 90th percentile mark. But when I changed it from my strongest to weakest section (V -> Q -> DI), the whole game changed! I was easily crossing the mark without much struggle or change in skill level. I saw the same in my actual test...so give this a thought...it might work for you too..

­Honestly, my most volatile section was always Quant...so I don't have too many expert pointers...All I can say is - My basic foundation was sorted because I had taken the full TTP course but what helped me improve towards the end was taking a lot of custom tests of my weaker areas on GMAT Club. Even if my skill only improved marginally in those areas, the main effect was psychological...doing so many custom tests removed my fear of those topics which in turn helped me to maintain my cool when I came across these questions in the actual test. I may have gotten that q wrong but it didn't rattle me so I didn't make careless errors on the rest of the questions.

Can you help elaborate a bit more?

Are you saying the results of the first section set the benchmark for the second section and so on?

Quants is my strongest and DI is my weakest.

My current order is QA, <break>, DI, VR.

Should I change it? Like, does it help to attempt DI first .. then go to QA and finally Verbal?

First of all, congratulations on all the hard work you've put into your GMAT prep! Based on your scores and your thorough review of errors and weak areas, it sounds like you've built a strong foundation. If you're consistently scoring near or above your target percentile in practice tests and feel like you're at your peak, it might be the right time to take the real exam.

I completely understand the concern about burnout—delaying too long can sometimes lead to fatigue rather than improvement. If your recent scores align with your target (or are at least close), and you’ve addressed key weaknesses, you’re likely in a great position to give it your best shot now.

That said, if there are specific gaps that still concern you or if your practice test scores fluctuate significantly, another couple of weeks of targeted review could help. Otherwise, trust your preparation and go for it with confidence!

Hi Gintoki101,

GMAC has (publicly) referred to the effect of an earlier section as being minor. As a result, you should be fine choosing the section order that works for you, without worrying about the algorithm.

I know that there has been no official word about it being section adaptive or having a minimal effect but I just speak from personal experience that changing my section order to Strongest to Weakest drastically changed my scores. Maybe it was a psychological effect on my confidence or an actual side effect in the algorithm but I suggest you to give it a try in one of your mocks- Go from Quant to Verbal to DI since you say that is your strongest to weakest. See if it changes your scoring pattern.
