Hi everyone, I have given GMAT today and scored 750(Q 50 V 40).
I would like to thank
e-gmat for their marvelous verbal module. When I got a dismal score of 610(Q 49 V 25) in the beginning of this year, my friend referred
e-gmat to me. I enrolled immediately and began my journey. The sentence correction module was really ground breaking and my ability in SC improved leaps& bounds. Pre-thinking really helped me to get rid of confusing answer choices in RC and CR. I recommend
e-gmat to anybody who likes to improve his/her score.
In addition to the
e-gmat verbal module, I've practiced from the following resources.
1)
GMAT official guide-2021 and verbal guide(A must for everyone)
2)Princeton mock tests
3)GMAT club mock tests(They were really helpful and some of the questions that appeared in the actual GMAT were very similar to those I've solved in the mocks)
General tips for the preparation:
1)Try to write 10+ mocks and thoroughly analyze all your wrong answers and make notes of all new concepts encountered, especially in the SC part
2) Watch GMAT Ninja videos on Youtube for sentence correction. They will reinforce your meaning based approach.
General tips for the exam(Verbal part):
1) Never rush on questions in verbal especially the first 20 questions. They almost determine your score. Try to get an accuracy of more than 80%. Even if u cant solve all the questions in time, that's fine. Try to solve at least 32 questions with a high accuracy.
2)Sentence correction: Give importance to meaning along with grammar. Difficult questions will always have more than one grammatical correct choice.
3)Critical reasoning: Try to pre-think the assumptions for assumption and weakening questions. For other type of questions, read all choices and then pick a fchoice.
Never skip any choice.
4)Reading comprehension: Never panic seeing the length of the passages. Unlike GRE, GMAT is kind enough in that it uses easy to understand vocabulary. So, keep your cool and understand the passage thoroughly.
