NASCAR racing is the second most watched sport on television in the United Stated with professional football is the only other sport to be holding more viewers.

a) is the only other sport to be holding more viewers
b) to be the only other sport viewed by much people
c) being the only other sport to hold more viewers
d) that is the other sport having more viewers
e) likely as the other most viewed sport

OA is c. When is it ok to use being in a sentence? I read that being should be always avoided.

I dont think there is any hard and fast rule for being. Although it is usually wrong.

In this choice all the others are very bad answers so choose C.

You can also search "being" up on some other questions and compare in this forum. Hope that helps.

I think 'being' is almost always wrong, except -
a) Something is 'being' X...
b) 'Being' is something...

IMO, being is not always incorrect. There are some structures where you can use the word as in this case.
The other sport, that is football is being something as correctly pointed out by Alok.
