in general when is a good time to take the test after studying for it? Like do I need to take a few sample tests until i get a consistent and "satisfactory" score then go for it? I am starting this week (waiting for books...) and i probably have 3-4 hours a day to study for it and I will be more focused on verbal section.

Thanks bb and pathfinder.

I need some time for AWA that's why I am also putting it for mid july. Also I need to make sure that I am consistent with the Verbal and it was not the fluke on one occasion. Will definitely go for mid-july.

Thanks again for the inputs!

I know that AWA may seem that it requires an equal amount of prep, but it really does not. Many people here prep for half-day and still get 5.0 or 6.0 on the AWA - see this guide on how to ace it in just a few days: how-to-get-6-0-awa-my-guide-64327.html

Good Luck!

Don't pay too much attention to AWA. You have to prepare for it if you are not native speaker but we are talking about few days here, certainly not couple of weeks. I had to study it a little longer than BB's half-day - you can conclude that from my poor styled posts he he he :) Again, I had no problem with AWA and scored 5.0. The most helpful tool for me was Chinesburned's famous template for AWA essays.
