I gave the Kaplan 800 test in Jan'09 just to check where I stand and I scored 580 (Q50, V22 or V23). So I knew at that time that I have to work hard on Verbal
I started studying for GMAT 2-3 times in last 2 years for about 2-3 weeks, but couldn't able to continue.
This time I started the preparation in May 2nd week and worked only verbal and haven't touched quant till now for more than a year now.
Today I gave my first GMAT Prep Test and I scored 720 (Q49, V40). Definitely I will be able to improve the score of quant to 50 or 51.
But I need advice that should I go ahead and take the date in mid july. I am thining that by any chance I screwed the exam on the D day then I can reappear in a month before the B School applications.
I am using OG11, Manhattan SC, Kaplan 800 and OG verbal. Also studied some critical reasoning bible.
Now I am planning to work more on 100SC and 1000CR. And more sample test and practice more.
I can spare 2-4 hrs on weekdays and 6-7 hrs on weekends till first week of july.
Please advice. Should I go ahead for mid july.

Excellent score on Gprep, go ahead for mid July if you feel comfortable. Alternatively, you can schedule your test for August with September as a backup. I realized that 30 days between first and second attempt is optimal. Longer break between two test dates could prove inconvenient for you.
Certainly, I hope you wouldn't have needed second attempt at all.

I think you are ready to go. I would not delay more than Mid July - you can even go as early as late June/early July. If you are waiting for the time when you will feel comfortable with GMAT - that day will never come 
This is a decision you just have to make. The strategy you picked is also good becuase it will take some pressure off you on the test day - you can always retain a month and still submit the scores to the Bschools.
Spend the last 2-3 weeks before the test taking full-length tests with AWA and reviewing your mistakes and polishing some areas that still need work.
