Thanks abhimahna for the reply.
I came across this news only today and its a Saturday. Official GMAC website says telephone lines are open only mon-friday :( On the bright side I guess, I have time till Monday to think about this decision.
Btw, do you know what happens if I want to schedule on a particular date after July 11 but the test centre doesnt have any free slots? Will GMAC ask me to schedule on next possible slot after 11 July ? ( This will be bad, if true, as I wanted to take the exam as early as possible and now the next free slot I see is on 20th July :( )

I think 7 days should be 7 business days. Also, yes the same thing will happen. If they don't have any slots for 11th, they will ask you for next possible slot.

Sometimes there could be some slots available which are not shown online but they have. You should ask them the next available slot and book your exam accordingly.

I understand that you don't wanna delay your exam but consider the fact that delaying it for few days may help you get a great score. :)

If you think you are comfortable with the existing format of the exam then go ahead and give the shot on 1st July itself.

I know I would be more comfortable giving verbal first. When you dont have a choice, you never think whether you are comfortable or not.
I agree with you that delaying for few days may help get a great score but I had some other fear.

Do you think if I take exam as late as 20-27 july, I would not have enough time for applications if I wanted to apply for fall 2018 ? I am new so I don't know much time we need generally for preparing applications. I see deadlines as close as 6 september. Might be a little off-topic here but these are all the fears haunting me and my decision.

No, even if you give exam by end of July you will have sufficient time to submit applications.

Consider it like this: You get tired during the exam and by the time you reach verbal section you feel like completing it soon, thus affecting your final score.

Do one thing: Check the score requirement of your school. Give a mock exam and determine whether you are already at that level.

If yes, go ahead and give your exam.

If no, postpone the exam for sure.

This will help you determine what you want.

Thanks a lot, abhimahna. I think you have cleared my doubts. I was so worried since this news came.

With GMAC's decision that as of July 11, test takers worldwide will have the flexibility to customize their GMAT experience by choosing the section order, I am at a cross-roads. My GMAT is scheduled on 1st July but I really think attempting Verbal or quant before AWA/IR could positively affect my verbal scores, even if not quant. I am a non-native and score poorly on verbal partly because I think my mind is exhausted from initial 2.5-3 hours. ( around Q49, V33 )
Should I reschedule to or after July 11 to take test in my preferred order? What are the chances that this strategy could backfire, assuming I will not have taken enough practice tests in the preferred order( verbal+quant+AWA+IR) as they are not available?
Somebody please advice what would be the best for me. :(

Our tests are already updated with the new format. I suggest you to try one for free right away in the order you want.

If you feel that you are happier changing the order as per your preference, you can choose to reschedule your GMAT to after 11th. Else, you can continue with the current date, and if unsatisfied with the score you get, you can retake at the end of July/early August.

Actually, I have rescheduled it. But thanks for updating tests as per order preference. I will try them out.
