Hello Dina89,

Welcome to the GMAT club. It is one of the great platforms to get information about the GMAT official test, Study plan, Section wise instructions, and many more. You are recommended to visit various posts and utilize this forum in the best efficient way.

Your score is decent. I fully understand your frustration. You were not probably on the right track or wrong direction in your study plans. You can surely do better.

You can schedule a Comprehensive counseling session for 30 mins with one of our experts:https://calendly.com/mathrevolution/1-on-1-session for detailed advice on your current study plans.

A score of 600 is not bad, but a bit shaky, and a target score of 700+ seems realistic. A score of 600 tells that basics are intact, and the ground is prepared. You need to practice demanding and most challenging level questions and take as many mock tests as possible. Create the error log and try access to the specific areas and topics that require improvement.

Also, make a note of various possible combinations to achieve a score of 700 or 700+. The possible scores will help you track your performance after taking the mock or practice test. It will also help you maintain balance in both the sections, and you will always be in a great position to allot the study hours to a specific area accordingly.

Possible score combinations: Q45/V41, Q46/V40, Q48/V38, Q50/V36

You can try our diagnostic test: https://www.mathrevolution.com/diagnost ... Memberfree] and receive a comprehensive study guide by topic. This test will help you understand your weak areas. You can also connect with our expert one-to-one for a complimentary session to understand the score better. There are also many free materials available in the GMAT Club.

We recommend learning unique, alternative time-saving approaches [VARIABLE APPROACH to hit DS questions accurately in less time and IVY Approach for PS questions]. You can check the applications of the mentioned approaches on our various posts in the GMAT club. Also, make sure that you revise your basic concepts every week on any one day.

Regular tests will reflect the positive change in the score, and hence, your confidence will boost up.
Gradually, with the help of mock tests, you will be able to compete with time and hence will be able to learn time-management.

We appreciate your time and patience in reading this reply.

Hi all,

I´m here because i´m really frustrated. After studying for almost 6 months took my first GMAT online attempt in december and ended up with a shocking 530 (Q35 V28). My first mock without studying was 480 (Q28 V27), so I was devastated. I took a full GMAT course (with tutors) and bought all manhattan books along with the OG, so I couldn´t believe my score. I was studying 3 hours per day and 4 or 5 on weekends.

I decided to study smarter, and to really start analysing my error log. I took the GMAT again after one month and improved verbal but my quant was worse: 570 (Q34 V35). I studied for one more month and went for my thrid attempt with the lowest quant score ever 600 (Q32 V40).

After all these attempts i´ve noticed that I really understand the verbal approach, but I´m still struggling with quant, even though I have a strong quant background.

I was thinking of retaking the GMAT in a month or so, but I really need help approaching quant. Time management is one of my biggest issues. I´ve been recently diagnosed with ADHD, so losing focus is a big problem for me, I get bored really fast both in the exam and in study sessions.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Dina89,

Sorry about how things went with your GMAT. You can definitely improve your score provided that you identify what went wrong in your previous attempt and work on your weak areas. Let me help you here.

The reason for scoring low on GMAT"

The key to scoring well on GMAT is to do your prep in the right way. So, it's obvious that you did not do your prep in the right way. I do not doubt your effort but the way you approached GMAT might be wrong. GMAT is not a typical exam which tests your conceptual knowledge. So, just practicing more and more questions doesn't improve your score. You need to focus on learning the right methodology and then practice questions. The better your application skills are, the better your performance will be.

And I see that there is a scope of improvement in both Quant and Verbal. I do understand that Quant is your stronger area but as I said earlier, it's the methodology you have to work on. Most importantly, you need to use the right strategies to solve DS questions as there are many traps set the test makers.

Having said that, I suggest you to book the slot only after you start getting your desired score consistently in mocks. I can definitely help you in the process of improving your score. But I would need a few more details about your preparation such as the way you prepared till now, your weak areas and the approach you use to solve questions. This information will help me understand your concerns and guide you in a better way. You can use the below link to get in touch with me.
