I have been studying for the GMAT for the past two months. On my first try of the GMAT I got 610 as overall score, Q42 and V33. Although I wasn't targeting a 700+ score, I was very dissatisfied with my performance considering the time I devoted studying for the GMAT and that I got 670 and 660 on both of my GMACC CAT tests.
During my first attempt I realized that I was facing timing problems in the quant section. Even though I covered most of the topics and could solve most of the questions, I was taking up too much time. While I attempted my second GMAC CAT test I had a very hard time finishing the all the questions and guessed the last 2-3 questions. Because of this I set up my mindset to finish each 5 questions in 10 mins, and was focusing to finish each set of 5 questions in 52, 42, 32 mins and so on. As a result I got really nervous and the timer got the best of me.
Having said all of this, I have decided to retake the gmat exam and now I am going to focus on better timing. I have recently read a few posts on how to improve my timing and on one of those posts it was recommended to use efficient ways to solve the problems rather than solving them all the way through using basics(which I thought was the best method). Now, I am in need of additional recommendation or suggestions on how to improve my quant timing. I am considering to register for a course for my GMAT quant improvement. I am thinking of registering for the course of
TargetTestPrep.
I can devote my time to studying (as I have literally nothing better to do and honestly I enjoy it). But to be honest, I am really not confident at the moment after my initial attempt, because I really put in my effort for it (studied 2 hours after office and woke up at 4 am everyday to study for another 3 hours). Also, I need help with my SC section. Do you think taking only quant based course will hurt my verbal score? Kindly suggest me on how to approach the exam so that I can maximize my performance.
( Thank you for reading this huge post, I saw experts ask for background that's why I thought of putting it in while asking for recommendations, apologies for taking up too much time)
