Hi GmatClubers,
Happy New Year!!!
tl;dr;
- Scored 700 (Q: 49; V: 35) on GMAT (not satisfied with my performance)
- Messed up timing in second half of the verbal section
- Determined to take it again and score at least 750
- My Problem: I have exhausted majority of test material which includes
- Manhattan CAT Test 1-4
- OG 2015, Verbal 2015, Quant 2015
- GMAT Prep QP1
- GMAT Prep EP1
- GMAT Prep EP2
- Need help with suggestions about other prep resources with quality questions
- And if you are wondering, yes I have already read
Should I Retake GMAT Thread - Retaking GMAT Strategies, but I am determined to re-take the test and improve my score.
More Details:
I recently took my GMAT and scored 700 (Q: 49; V: 35). Although it is a decent score, I am not satisfied with my performance, particularly in verbal. Just for some context, I scored >=710 in last 6 practice tests that I took (4 GMAT Prep; 2 Manhattan). I truly believe that it was a bad test day for me and I can easily touch at least 40 in verbal.

Last 5 Practice Test Scores:Reasons I think I performed badly on test day:- Anxiety (which lasted all throughout AWA section)
- Problem with context switching as I go into verbal section
- I noticed this issue in my last 2-3 practice tests as well
- It takes about 3-5 questions for me to shift gears and put on my verbal hat
- Timing issue with 3rd quarter of verbal section
- This I think was the most crucial one that brought my verbal score down
- I had about 36-37 mins remaining for second half of the test and I ended spending about 25 mins for 12 questions, leaving me with just 10-11 mins for last 7-8 questions
- Then came a long RC and everything went south from there
- Questions 34-37 were for an long RC which I tried to skim and semi-guess answer, spending about 3-4 mins
- In the end I had about 5-6 mins to answer 4 questions (mix of CR and SC).
What do I need help with?As I have mentioned above that I have exhausted a good amount of quality material, I need help help with following:
- Suggestions on other test resource mainly for questions. I already have all the recommended books.
- Any other advice that you think might help me.
Thank you for reading!
