Hi Ujjwal,

It depends on how different and what the reasons are for making those changes...generally diversity of experiences is a good thing, but you also want to be able to show a consistent theme or thread in your work experience. So I think as long as you can show good reasons for making those changes, and tie that in to your reasons for getting an MBA, it won't be an issue. In your case, working as a Chef might actually be something that admissions committees find interesting (because it's less traditional), and then combining that with technical and analytical experience, could actually be a nice mix and interesting perspective to bring to an MBA program. But do make sure you're able to connect your past experience to your post-MBA goals.

Good luck!
Kate

Hi Kate ,

Thanks a ton for your valuable response . It helps a lot

How do Admission directors perceive or judge diverse experience in different industries with different Job profiles (For ex- I have worked as a Chef for a brief period , 3 years as a Software engineer and now planning to take up a non technical analytical role (assuming i have the right reasons to switch over at each instance) )

Regards ,
Ujjwal
