Kunal: you'll have more luck posting that on the designated GMAT Quant forum in a new topic.

In 1 hr Tom does 1/6 part of the work
Next 1 hr peter does 1/3 part and Tom does another 1/6 part
remaining work = 1- 1/6-1/3-1/6 = 1/3
Together they do 1/6+1/3+1/2= 1 part of the work (Full work)
1 part in 1 hr
1/3 part in 1/3 hr

Total time worked by peter 1+ 1/3 hr
Total fraction of work done by peter = (1+1/3)*1/3=4/9
