i got a 675(q86,v85,di80) in my last attempt 2 months ago and had a break in studying after that. im starting again now. (aiming for 705)

- my di has plateaued to 80-82 - im unable to improve accuracy wrt timings in MSR and more surprisingly G&T - any advice?
- my verbal's weakness is inferred ideas in rc and evaluate questions at the hardest diff - any advice for that?
- how much should i prep again before appearing for my next attempt?

Hi ishaan452356,

You're already at V85 (94%), so you most likely don't have any major weaknesses in verbal. As for eval/RC inference, is that a pattern you've seen in your practice tests as well?

Hey everyone! Looking for honest guidance from people who’ve been through the MiM application process 🙏

About me:
- Indian, 20 years old
- B.Com at a Panjab University affiliated college (non-elite)
- Sem 1 SGPA: 5.9 | Pending papers in Sem 2 & 3 (working on clearing them as already gave re appear exams as I had health issues and family stuff)
- ACCA: 3/13 papers done (Applied Knowledge level and paused for now due to toxic mentor and bad institution )
- Targeting MiM Sept 2027 at HEC Paris, ESSEC, INSEAD, ESCP, emlyon
- GMAT prep ongoing, target August 2026 through e-GMAT
- Cannot do in-person activities right now — fully remote accept for I have signed up in local NGO

What I need help with:

1️⃣ What extracurriculars actually matter for top MiM applications when everything has to be remote? (Forage, Inside LVMH, online consulting projects etc — am I on the right track?)

2️⃣ Is hiring an admissions consultancy worth it for a non-elite Indian profile? If yes, which ones actually helped you for French MiMs specifically?

3️⃣ How do I handle the pending papers and non-elite college story in essays without it hurting me?

4️⃣ Any general advice for someone 15 months out with this profile?

Really grateful for any guidance — this community has been gold so far!

You can look them up on their individual websites. Create a spreadsheet for yourself with all of the dates. Sept-Jan is most of them.

If you are aiming to apply for an MBA in R1 Sep’26 (i.e., starting the program in fall 2027), here’s a rough plan for your use:
A. Independent of, and in parallel to B
- Developing/strengthening (read 'packaging') your profile by going through reflections*
- Finalizing CV*
- Developing pointers for Recommenders*
- Figuring out financials
B. Key Milestone*: GMAT/GRE - ideally, you needed to have gotten this done by June’26 latest, including any reattempts
- If you are an ORM, then please target 705+/332+
- Scores are just a defense to help you not get rejected (but that is not the same as getting selected)
C. Dependent on B:
- Research & shortlist schools*
- Networking with students/alumni/adcom*
- Attending webinars/events*
- Drafting essays using the insights from reflections*
- Securing LORs*
* denotes time-consuming activity
A job well done is 99% well planned.

While some consultants create and post summaries on their own websites, the only official source of application deadlines is the school website.

Anything more than 645-655 is excellent, GMAT won't be a reason your profile will be rejected

Yes, if you want to get a very good scholarship, a higher score helps
