I use the question bundle from MBA.com. I worked through the All the GMAT strategy guides from Manhattan and learned their strategies for the specific question types. But the answer analysis from MBA.com categorizes them different.
got it… to be very frank, the official question categories are very broad and probably not built for a test taker but rather for a reporting an analysis of psychometric tools… but you’re not alone in that and also categories tend to differ in different sources. Meaning there are different sets of classification categories in the official guide and in the advanced question guide for example. Which is not helpful for you.

Manhattan has a conversion table but only for the official guide.

One option is you can try to convert them yourself. You can also look them up on GMAT Club and see how we categorize the questions if we have them. Usually they’re pretty well and consistently categorized across the board. We haven’t had complaints in at least five years 😂 but complaints are always welcome!

I can’t think of a better or easier way unfortunately. 😖

3-4 months. The best preparation for the test is not to take years but to get it done quickly. Actually the faster the better but most people find hard to fit in study schedule into less than about three months. If you notice, all of the live and in person gmat courses are pretty much 10-12 weeks.

The reason you don’t want to stretch it out is because you’ll forget anything you’ve learned more than two or three months ago and so you have to keep refreshing and reviewing that material. GMAT uses a lot of subtleties and nuance to Trap you and those things are also easily forgotten. Think about it as swimming against the current. If you swim leisurely you’ll just be stuck in one place. If you swim slowly, you will actually lose ground and the only way to get it done to swim fast with intensity.

Awesome thank you for letting me know! For my own error tracking, what categories would you suggest? Do you have a link to GMAT club categories by any chance & the Manhattan conversion table?
Thank you so much!

I have a ques if someone who might have taken years for their gmat prep considered to be a bad test taker?

Why it has always been 6 months? It could be a yr or more than a year too depending upon the background of a person. Right?

But in my opinion if you are preparing for GMAT, start solving questions from GMAT forum and everyday questions that Brunel post

I also do the same

Hi, everyone,

We have added a new episode to our GMAT Club Podcast. In this episode, we interviewed Faazil, a GMAT student from India who scored 750 on his GMAT. Faazil’s undergrad GPA was very low so he needed a strong GMAT score and that motivation helped him face the GMAT preparation and actual exam with a strong mindset.

You can listen to it at the following link gmatclub-podcast-gmat-750-with-1-month-of-preparation-423965.html

@bb thanks for your advice !

Can anyone help me compare test prep institutes. My main worry is that theyre all for the classic gmat which for prep is fine but for mocks is a waste

Hi all, I have a question: according to your experience, how long should it take me to solve a question based on its difficulty? For sure I don't know that while taking the GMAT, but as for now I'm studying questions by difficulty (let's say I'm doing quant 650-700 diff.).
I guess the answer would differ between quant and verbal
