I presume when you state Top-20, your reference is to international MBA programs. If so, read on since you are missing a lot:
- International schools are a very different ballgame compared to IIM's, etc. The concept of Day 0, Day 1...placements in India do not exist abroad. Here the recruiters come to IIM doorsteps; in international markets, the candidates have to go to the recruiters.
- Broadly speaking, Indian schools are factories of clones because the bulk of the candidates do not have any work experience or have 1-2 years mostly (think of the MiM programs abroad). International MBA programs aren't factories, as each candidate is different (if not unique).
- Look deeper into the employment data of international schools, and you will find that a lot of MBA grads opt out of job hunting for a variety of reasons. Even if this is not the case, there are always candidates who were passive and fell short on their efforts to secure a job, or are keen on something very specific that didn't come their way.
International schools do not find you a job; they help you prepare yourself to find a job. There are no entitlements here.
Says someone who has done his first MBA from India, a second MBA from abroad and has seen his successful admits in top US schools squander away the opportunity by doing very little in terms of networking, etc.
Hope this helps.

Can anyone explain why these colleges(TOP-20) have only 90-92% batch placed after 3 months of mba....like these are the best colleges one can get into and still 10% of the batch is unplaced. As compared to IIMs(A/B/C) who almost have 99-100% placement.Am I missing something?
