Hello All, I’m a beginner to GMAT prep and need some help whether to purchase e-books or paperback version of GMAT Official Guide?
Purchase paperback. It will help you on the go when required and will stay around you. Also it depends from people to people, usually if you initiate from a book it enhances your understanding and grasp coz thats what our usual learning path was earlier. Also, on purchasing paperback OG you will be given a code inside the book, that will give you 1 year access to the e-version and 2 free mocks.

Hello guys! I’m considering buying the new official guide, but I have a few questions and would appreciate your assistance. The code for the online version, which is accessed through the GMAT official practice site, comes exclusively with the book, correct? There’s no need to delete my existing mba.com account, and create a new one right? Additionally, the mock tests are different from the ones in the official guide for 2023-2024, aren’t they?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been studying with the Official Guide 2024 for a while and felt relatively comfortable with most question types. However, after exploring this website and trying questions from the question bank, I’m feeling quite discouraged. There are so many questions here that I had no idea how to approach, even some marked as "easy" or "medium."

I’m now working through the GMAT Club Math Book PDF I found on this site in the hope that it will help me improve, but I’m wondering: is the Official Guide considered too easy or not representative of actual GMAT questions by this community? If that’s not the case, I’m at a loss as to why there’s such a stark difference in my performance between studying with the Official Guide and tackling the questions on this site.

For example, I haven’t seen any mention of geometric or harmonic progressions in the Official Guide, but there are questions categorized as "easy" on this site that require an understanding of those concepts.

TL;DR:
Is the Official Guide 2024 question bank a good representation of the types of questions I can expect on the GMAT, or are those questions generally too easy compared to the ones on this website?

hi! I had the same case, but don’t worry about it. GMAT Club’s tests, including Data insights tend to be a lot harder, compared to the OG.

Hi wackert,

The GMAT is an adaptive test, so it's hard to say whether a particular resource is harder or easier than the GMAT. However, official questions, including the ones in the books, are generally representative of what you'll see on the GMAT.

You could take one of the official practice tests as well.

I am planning to take the gmat in January and thinking of applying in R2/R3 for most schools.
Is applying for the 2025 intake in those rounds worth a shot?

It really depends on which schools you are targeting. R3 of most USA schools is not available to internationals, and R2 deadlines are in early Jan 2025. That rules out the Fall 2025 intake and you will need to aim for 2026 intake.
