divesh87, how long did you prep for GMAT? Do you have any useful tips for cracking quant? I study a lot of theory but I often make 1 mistake every 4 questions and I’m not sure if I’m getting better. I maintain a really good error log and understand all the mistakes I’m making.

Did you make a post in the study buddy forum?
Not yet, Scott. I wasn’t aware of the existence of the forum till now.

My reason for checking for an active quants forum was to ask questions to fellow students when I get stuck while doing a math problem or when I use a different approach to arrive at a solution - so I thought I’d use chat groups which are active already.

Hi! No I’m back in India but it was my choice to come back. I secured a job with Amazon in London post-mba but didn’t like it so returned to India to start my own consulting firm. To answer your question on point. French as a language definitely helps in improving your chances of securing a job in France but i do know people who have secured a job without speaking much french... (Only basic level). Also schools like HEC and Insead which are tier-1 schools in France will open up opportunities for you all over the world - so you need not be limited to options in France. I hope i answered your question. Let me know if anything else.
Thank you so much, Divesh, for the detailed response.

I’m mainly looking to apply to ESSEC and EDHEC, and I prefer to stay behind and work there. I do not possess a strong profile for MAANG so I will be targeting other companies inside France.

We don’t let non-sponsors advertise their services on the forum. That said, anyone who claims to be a consultant but doesn’t have a website may not be the best person to trust in this very serious decision. Just saying :)

divesh87, I think having a website, with verifiable prior experiences, shows legitimacy. No website also means that you’re probably doing it part-time, which means that you’re not 100% committed to the field. In general, consultants need to be committed so that they can be aware of every trend and the changing landscape each year. Just my two cents

Got it. Well, you may find it helpful to join such a group.

Hello,

This is my first post on this forum, or on any forum for that matter, so pardon me if I'm not doing this right. I was not really sure which would be the best place to post these issues, so I thought I should crash the party here!

A bit of context:
1. So I gave my GMAT exam today and scored a 750.
2. I'm targeting one of the top B-Schools as per the Financial Times Ranking and intend to target the Spring Session of admission in 2024.
3. Finally, I'm an Engineer. I began my career with Deloitte Consulting as a Business Technology Analyst in 2015 and I worked there for just around 9 months. After that I shifted to a startup as a Digital Product Consultant and worked there till 2022 December (i.e 7 year 9 months). Finally, I shifted to a small enterprise (in terms of turnover) which builds ships for the military in January this year (2 months and counting) as a Senior Project Manager.

So here's my problem, recently I got a good opportunity to work with a federal government agency that is involved in Investment Facilitation and Handholding of foreign investors. Now I'm in two minds, as I was told by a friend that having two stints (Deloitte and the Ship Building firm) each of which lasted less than an year might appear as a red flag to B-Schools. Moreover, if I go for the Spring 2024 admissions, I will end up with yet another short work stint with the government agency which would last less than an year (6 months give-or-take).

In conclusion, should I join the government agency (it is really cool :/), or should I sit tight at my present place of work? I would welcome any advice from the forum members :-)

Thanks!

PS. Additionally, it would be very helpful if someone could point me to where I can post such profile/admission related questions without bugging you guys on this thread.

Hello everyone, I am an engineer and I start my GMAT prep today. Any suggestions on where to revise quant from? I am an engineer so I have the basics in place. I need a resource for quick revision of all concepts.

I Tool the GMAT recently and i think the official Material is fine If you already got the basics. However, I used TTP course for one month and i really Liked the in-depth Präparation and the course organization

Sorry, German autocorrect :D

I tried attempting a verbal test and got a 38. Is it a good score?
Also, how many questions can I answer incorrectly in quant and get a 720 or a 730?

Hey there, I would suggest you stick with official GMAT quant resources; that would be enough for you to prepare.
Otherwise, for quants, you can go for books like Manhattan Prep GMAT Strategy or Kaplan GMAT Math Workbook. Feel free to ask more :)

Hey ariluv07, 38 in a verbal is a decent score. I would suggest that you don’t miss more than 14-16 questions in order to secure a good score.

But the more you practise, the more you will gain confidence, so try to answer all the questions just to be on the safe side.
