What is the value of y?

(1) 3|x^2 – 4| = y – 2

(2) |3 – y| = 11

1) insufficient as we don't know x and changing x we change y.

2) |3 – y| = 11
a key point is y=3, So we have two cases:
y>=3: -3+y=11 --> y=14
y<3: 3-y=11 --> y=-8
insufficient

1)&2) Let's look at first condition. Could it satisfy only one of two solutions found for second condition?

3|x^2 – 4| = y – 2 ---> positive number = y-2 --> y>=2 ---> only y=14 works. Sufficient.
