Hello GMATClub,
I wanted this to be a debrief but may be not so soon. MBA has been a very long overdue dream for me now. I have taken CAT (India) 2013,2014,2015 and 2016. It's not that I did not get to any college with those results but not the colleges I wanted to. Also, I never scored something like a 99%le the best I got was 92. Then I moved to USA in 2017 and did not prepare for anything as such (went back to India in between and came back to US in March 2019). Finally in July 2019, I started preparing for GMAT. With almost 6 months of preparation, I ended up with a 600 in actual GMAT.
Here are the scores so far:GMATPrep 1- July 13, 2019 - Q42 V26 - 560
GMATPrep 2 - July 20, 2019 - Q44 V21 - 540
Expert's Global Free Exam - Don't remember the date - Q47 V18 - 540
(At this point I realised just taking mocks won't help so I need to study. So no mocks for a period of time)
GMATPrep1 - Attempt 2 - Sept 29 - Q47 V28 - 620
GMATPrep2 - Attempt 2 - Nov 3 - Q50 V36 - 710 (Obviously I saw repeat questions specially that one RC I can recollect)
VeritasPrep1 - Nov 11 - Q48 V32 - 650
Egmat Test 1 - Nov 17 - Q45 V33 - 640
Veritas Prep 2- Nov 22 - Q48 V33 - 660
Veritas Prep 3- Nov 27 - Q48 V35 - 680
Veritas Prep 4- Dec 2 - Q50 V32 - 670
Veritas Prep 5- Dec 5 - Q45 V32 - 630
GMATPrep 3 - Dec 7 - V49 V29 - 650
Veritas Prep 6- Dec 14 - Q49 V32 - 660
GMATPrep 4 - Dec 18 - V48 V37 - 700
Honestly, I felt very happy that I finally touched 700 and I was fully prepared to take the actual GMAT with that confidence. Somewhere, I was prepared to fall back to something like 680 but not a 600.
No, It was not the exam pressure that got to me. I was well prepared. It was a well planned event for me. I had practiced every test full length (including AWA and IR). I eat the exact same thing during breaks all the time. I didnt expect a Q51 but at least a Q48 (the heck with the first question. It did trick me I should say but I moved on in about 3 minutes). For Verbal, I had a very bad RC in the end. The options were so lengthy that they were almost the size of RC. And that was for all 3 questions. I did my best but I am pretty sure I did not get those right. And I wanted to get done with those so I could attempt the last 4 (SC/CR) questions. The center was perfect. They did everything to make sure a candidate has the smooth experience. bb, I want to add that center to the list. I will work with you on that.
My resources so far:1. GMATClub : Hands down. I have used this platform for 90% of my preparation. Be it official questions. Be it QOTD. Be it Daily Practice Questions. Nothing beats this platform.
2. EmpowerGMAT : I have not used this 100%. I guess about 20%. (because I knew where to focus and what I was lacking). I did not need to go through basics and stuff (specially Quant)
Tests:As you already figured out Veritas Prep and Official GMATPrep mocks.
Next Action item?I don't know. I have been contemplating so far on what to do and what went wrong. I am planning to buy ESR to at least get some idea about how I performed in each sub section. (I have a feeling I performed good in the order of SC, RC and CR. CR being the worst). I am definitely thinking of one more attempt but I am thinking to be 100% honest with myself when it comes to mistakes and may be to enroll in a course thought not sure which one) .
As I mentioned I wanted this to be a debrief but turns out that is not the case. I wanted to not be active on the forum posting solutions to questions but looks like the forum needs more of me.
