Official Explanation

Answer D
- The error in this sentence hinges around the idiomatic not only…but also phrase. The sentence as written does not include "also," so choice (A) is incorrect. Choice (B) changes the verb tense, which could still be correct, but fails to include the necessary "also." Choice (C) includes "also," but eliminates "but," leaving an equally incorrect not only…also phrase. (D) correctly includes the not only…but also phrase, completing the sentence as required. Choice (E) also includes the not only…but also phrase, but adds "as well," creating redundancy.

Correct use of idiom is : Not only X, but also Y
A,B,C are directly out
Between D and E, 'as well' in Option E is redundant. Hence correct choice is D.
