Dear Dreaming,

It's great you got a place. I've also interviewed for the program but have yet to hear back.

The MSBA is different from a traditional MBA path in that this program is focused on data analysis and the world of big data, while a MBA is focused on general management skills while allowing you to specialize in certain areas, eg finance, marketing, etc

It really depends on what is your goal. May I ask when did you interview and when did you get an offer?

Hi,

I interviewd on 4th July.....and got the admit on 8th.....

When did u interview and whats ur profile?

The reason I applied at all was because I want to work in Analytics and later go into consulting....Working in analytics will give me a wide range view of various business domais(or so I believe)......I think I will take this opportunity up...

Hi Dreaming,
have you finally taken up MSBA at NUS? If you indeed did, I would be very happy to exchange ideas with you in the Business Analytics domain.
Interestingly, I went through a similar dilemma - choosing between MBA and MSc in 2011. I turned down NUS MBA, continued working and been deferring my study plan; by chance I switched to a semi-professional analytic role and really enjoyed it so far (8 months into the job). I'm based in Singapore so it's a no brainer to pick up something like MSBA, however it is a brand new course.

Dear Dreaming,

Greeting to you! Hope you are doing well.

I am also considering applying for Ms in Business Analytics programs. I am at a very initial stage, yet to give GMAT. It would be really great if you could share some insights from the research that you would have done.

Just to give a small background:

I have a 2 year full-time MBA in Capital Market from a Top 10 B-School in India with a CGPA of 3.5/4.0.
Have 2 years of pre-MBA work ex in IBM as a SAP Business Intelligence Consultant.
Have a 4 year full-time BE in Electronics & Communication from Manipal University with CGPA of 9.1/10.0.
National level Rank 2 (out of 351 teams) in Nomura's M&A Investment Banking Case Study Competition (2013-14).
Currently working (since June 2014) in Nomura's IB (M&A) division. If I aim for 2016 admissions, I will have 3-4 years of work ex by then.

Kindly share:
> What all universities I can target
> Location and cost are not a major constraint, reward in terms of job opportunities is a priority
> How good are the job opportunities in terms of brands and the packages
> What do the adcoms look for, for these courses?
> Any other suggestion from your end would be really helpful

Thanks & Regards,
Gaurav Bansal.

hi Mission,

how did you get on with the application? I am currently looking to pursue my further studies in NUS MSBA or SMU MITB. Would love to discuss with various experienced people in this forum!
