Nothing on my end....I don't think anyone has gotten an admit yet - I have a feeling next week, some people will start to hear.

nyu08 - in my wholly unprofessional opinion, i think that you are ok. i think that it makes sense to annualize the income you are making now, espec since you disclosed the hourly rate, dates in your employment history.

nyu08 wrote:
Does anyone know what the background check entails? I'm only asking because I realize there is a slight discrepancy regarding my current annual salary figure in my app, since I'm paid hourly as an independent contractor (or freelance), and started the job in mid-year of 2007 (however, I did put my hourly rate in the employment history form so that is accurate). Should I be worried about this (if I get in, that is)?

everyone else - no news here from adcom. i'm feeling surprisingly laid back for now... once other people start getting their notices i think the spazzing will begin!

Looking back to fall 2006, the first bunch was admitted on the 30th of May, which was a Tuesday. Tuesday is a historically popular day for notifications. For us, the 30th falls on a Friday, and so our first batch may just get pushed back a week.

Based on this, my guess is that we’ll see 3 or 4 of us get admits next Tuesday and maybe a few more later in the week.

I’m pretty confident in believing that there have been extremely few, but more likely no, admits so far. Between this board and business week one, I am guessing there are about 50 – 60 applicants who will report on acceptances, which is about 5% of the total fall applicant pool. That gives us a pretty meaningful sample of Stern’s activities.

Yup. I'd agree that there haven't been any admits yet. For those of you unfamiliar w/ BW forums, it's filled with liars who will make false statements just to get you riled up.

so i came home from work today and found a priority mail envelope from Stern. and lo and behold, there was an admittance letter in it! i checked my email and apparently an email from Stern was in my spam folder! it was dated May 28th and it was from "decisions@stern.nyu.edu" -- make sure you save that address so it doesn't go in your spam. i had saved "appstat@stern.nyu.edu" thinking it would come from this address since that's where my status check password came from.

so excited, still can't believe i'm in! they most definitely started admitting people this week, and i'm sure there will be many more admits in the next week or so.

thanks! love the emoticons!

stats:

GMAT: 700 (44V, 42Q)
UGPA: 2.99 (BS in Chemistry); but took a few grad classes recently and received GPA 3.7

7 yrs. of WE -- in general, 6 yrs. in molecular/cell biology and 1 year in private foundation as consultant for scientific/medical grants

lots of volunteer work, extracurriculars, etc.
Asian female, born in US (father from India, mother from Philippines)

sent in app early, like last week in March. that's probably why i heard back so soon.

was really worried that my resume was all over the place (different positions, different industries, different cities), but maybe they like the diversity :)

let the compulsive checking of the status web site begin...the fact that the status update e-mail could end up in the spam folder is enough of an excuse for me

Congrats nyu08. Awesome news.

Also, anyone else without their status check login and password. I am hyperventilating now that I still haven't received any news.

I just checked my spam folder and saw the NYU status check details were sent there...so folks do check your spam folder incase you have not received any login information as yet.

Now the agonizing wait begins.
