Of the 200 seniors at Monroe High School, 40 are in the band, 60 are in the orchestra, and 10 are in both. How many seniors are in neither the band nor the orchestra?

A. 90
B. 100
C. 110
D. 120
E. 130

Total number of seniors = 200

Number of seniors that are in band only = 40-10 = 30

Number of seniors that are in orchestra only = 60 - 10 = 50

Number of seniors that are in both = 10

Number of seniors that are in neither the band nor the orchestra = 200 - 30 - 50 - 10

= 200 - 90

= 110

Total = 200

In Band = 40

In Orchestra = 60

Both =10

Neither = ?
Total - Neither = In A + In B - Both
200 - Neither = 100 -10
200 -90 = Neither
110 = neither the band nor the orchestra
