How many real mock tests are there? I may have mistaken this but I thought most standardized test have more mock tests from different vendors than you could take.
but I am seeing only 6 real ones for the GMAT CAT. This number may have been referring to only specific test makers.
Also, I know this has been beaten to death, but how do I convert the OG diagnostic test into a real test score?
I got average on the quant for both DS and PS. 23 correct for quant and 37 correct for verbal. I am not too worry about my quant as I have not been around these pure math problems for a while. I actually work and have an engineering degree from one of the top school- go ahead and laugh away.. but on a serious note, can anyone tell me where I stand on the 800 scale score? the question#s are not right and I know its to the same as the way the real tests are graded, but just want to give myself a baseline score and see my own progression. took me hours to find some conversion chart but here is what I found, How To Approximate Your OG Diagnostic Test Performance To The 800-Scale. I am not allowed to post a link but not sure what this guy is smoking since most OG diagnostic test taker said they are hard questions. I could not even place a score on his chart with a quant correct questions of 23....

Average on the quant for both DS and PS
RC:Excellent
CR: above average
SC:average

Any good tips on study for full time working individual? its pretty hard to space out time because of the work commute and chores.

I would suggest that you take an actual free official mock to determine your baseline score rather than waste time trying to convert your diagnostic test score. That one test would give you better insights into your strengths and weaknesses.

To answer your other question, yes, there are only 6 official mocks. If you feel that you need to attempt more, you can always try out the unofficial ones (there is a list here), but do not read too much into the results. I would only recommend them to be used for building up your stamina for the actual test if it has been a while since you've written competitive exams.

Hi, just follow him Bunuel. I've been checking all of his posts, and they're really great.

M838TE you may also consider studying during your breaktime? If it really isnt possible, you can dedicate couple of hours during the weekend.

Hi M838TE,

The scoring algorithm on the Official GMAT is far more complicated than most people realize. Since that algorithm is proprietary, no GMAT company has an exact match for it, thus CAT scores can vary a bit based on the 'biases' involved in their respective designs. While the most realistic CATs available are the 6 from GMAC, retaking a CAT that you've already taken is NOT a realistic way to assess your skills - since you will likely see some 'repeat' questions that you have already faced. Unfortunately, seeing even a couple of repeats can 'throw off' the Scoring Algorithm and impact your pacing, energy levels, fatigue, etc. (meaning that they would likely all appear to be better than they actually are). Thankfully, the CATs from Kaplan, MGMAT and Veritas are all 'close enough' to the real thing that they will provide you with a relatively realistic score assessment (assuming that you correctly take the CAT in a realistic fashion that matches the parameters that you will face when you take the Official GMAT).

Unfortunately, there's no practical way to convert the results from the OG Diagnostic Test to an equivalent GMAT Score (there are simply too many factors that don't 'match up' - including the number of questions, the order of the questions (and the ratio of the subjects), the fact that the paper Test does not adapt, the interface, your pacing, etc.). The only practical way to assess how you might score on the Official GMAT is to take a FULL-LENGTH CAT/mock under realistic testing conditions. You can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have that Score, you should report back here and we can discuss the results and come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

VoltAmpere hope all is well, had to revive this post because I find myself taking too much time to truly understand a problem and its solution or even the ones I eliminated but not exactly sure of the reason for ruling them out.
Do you spend quite a bit of time reviewing questions? I could spend upward to an hour just to really understand something....perhaps not the best strategy to study this given my work schedule.
do you all just do new problems (buy them from 3rd party test prep, Manhattan, Kaplan, empowergmat, alike), review problem solutions, and take a mock test?

Thoroughly reviewing and SC can take longer than initially solving it.

Yes, I do. If I do not like some of the easy low hanging fruit of the wrong choice. I look to see how to correct the sentence and find the rest of the errors within the wrong choice, if possible, to have it make sense.
but I think this will only come with time, and most of the time its not so easily rectified. Take for example, there was a question about the usage between "due to" and "because of" I initially read it as the words following because of/ due to are being modified but then realized the rest of the stuff would not make sense.

https://gmatclub.com/forum/prospecting- ... 92135.html
https://gmatclub.com/forum/since-februa ... 78308.html

two similar concepts being tested, but the prospecting for gold.... is testing for parallel following because of" and while the bottom link is testing if you know the "because" of... is testing the student if you know the stuff that comes after the "because of..." comma describes a phrase " analyst have been predicting".
Due to..... , modifies the noun that comes right after the comma

then I tried to see if the wrong sentence could be salvage to see if I really understand the concept.
