Thanks for the reply. No i am not a very good test taker and these questions are actually very easy which can be seen from the correct answer percentage here.

This is just one such example of a question.I am using the 2022 OG guide and this question is categorised as hard there but it has a 95% correct answer ratio here.
There we have it. You're looking at quant questions. I'm not a quant expert, but here are some things you may want to consider:

1. GMAT quant used to be much, much easier in the past (decades ago).

2. GMAC doesn't recategorise question difficulty (this is done during question development), so it's possible that the difficulty level of that question has shifted over time. The question you linked to, in particular, seems to be an old question (it's tagged "GMAT Paper Tests", which are really, really old).

3. GMAT club members may be generally better at quant than the average test taker. They could be more motivated, and many of them could be from countries like India, where many test takers are very good at quant.

I'd be interested in knowing whether you've observed a similar trend in verbal questions.

Hello everyone,
I have been practicing from the OG recently and trying to do the hard questions from it,however 70-80% hard questions are very easy and when I check them here also they are marked as low or medium difficulty. Why is that and if I want to practice hard questions where should I practice from?

Thanks

Hi. Are you referring to quant or verbal?

In general OG does not have many hard questions - there are some but probably no more than 20 and possible as low as 10% or so.

OG is notorious for mis-stating question difficulty. They are supposed to be in the increasing docility order but that’s not the case.

FYI, the difficulty indicator on gmat club is based on the totality of all questions. This means third party questions have impact and drive down the overall difficulty rankings of official questions because prep companies tend to focus on creating harder questions rather than easier ones.

PS. You can also find the 150 hardest and easiest questions in each ideation sub-forum.
