Well... you should follow your course/books and do the topical approach to the OG. Kind of like you would not be reading a dictionary from A to Z, you would not be starting the OG from question 1 to question 907.

Hi bgk7392,

Back in November of 2018, you posted that you were planning to begin your studies (and you took a practice CAT, scoring 570). Did you end up doing any studying for the GMAT at that time? If you did, then for two long and what materials did you use? If you have not done any studying since then, then it would make sense to take a new practice CAT (although NOT the same one that you used last time, since we do not want you to see any 'repeat' questions that you might remember the answers to).

Beyond those question, I have a few additional questions about your timeline and goals:

1) What is your overall goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
4) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Thanks you all for the responses. My apologies for not mentioning my prep strategy. I am 2 weeks from finishing an online quant course that I am using(it comes with its own GMAT level questions for each section but not OG level I guess) and have completed RC and SC guides from MGMAT. I am currently going through Powerscore CR.

With this in mind can you please advise if I am better doing the OG questions topicwise first or the quant and verbal reviews first??

Thanks in advance

Hi bgk7392,

I have an important question. Have you taken any recent practice exams to get baseline score?

Hi bgk7392,

To score at a high level on the GMAT, you have to have a variety of skills (more than just content knowledge) and the only way to properly assess whether you have those skills or not is to take FULL-LENGTH CATs under realistic conditions AND at regular intervals. From your posts, it's not clear whether you've taken any practice CATs recently or not - so if you have not, then you should plan to take one soon.

In addition, it would really help if you could provide a bit more information on your studies and plans:

1) Did you end up doing any studying for the GMAT back in 2018? If you did, then for how long and what materials did you use?
2) What is your overall goal score?
3) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hello,

I am about to start my GMAT prep and have The OG 2019 and the OG for Verbal Review 2019 (and Quant as well).

Should I start with OG first and then move to Quant and Verbal reviews or should I do the individual reviews before I move into OG.

Thanks in advance,
bgk7392

The most helpful advice I found on this forum was, start with a GMAC official practice test, know your strength and weakness first. After that, start with OG questions then move to the verbal book.
Hope this helps.
