Quick tip if you have the Official-Guide to leverage the online question bank. It will automatically record questions you've attempted and you can use it to create timed practice sets, for example. You can get e-versions of different guides, too.

Yes this is true, for reading comprehension there is a bug with the online question bank meaning if you select 10 questions those questions can come from different passsages, so I had to shift to the offline version. One option could be to select all the passages together but then you lose control on difficulty so I am saving the best for last.

Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the tip! I'm already using the question bank and its super helpful. Do you have any insights on what # of questions for each difficulty should I do for the timed practice sets? Should they be sets of 10, 15, 20?

I started with a lower mix of difficult questions earlier on and almost a 50-50 mix of easy and difficult in the beginning, with 20-30% of the questions hard. You will also need to take into account the supply of questions for each level, it is not the same so you will need to use the mix with caution, do what is best for your at the end of the day with the intent that you will do each question with test like intensity in less than 2mins.

Hi hmv1008,

I think your plan of doing mixed problem sets is great. But are you also taking practice tests or are you waiting on those until you complete your official questions?

Hi ScottTargetTestPrep,

Thanks for the response! I've take 2 practice tests (both GMAT OG ones)

Mock 1: 625 (Q80 V82 DI 81)
Mock 2: 665 (Q83 V85 DI 81)

I'm planning to take the exam early March, so right now I'm doing 1 practice per week. Ideally, it would be great to get all 85s across all sections.

For Quant, I'm currently doing sets of 25 per topic on TTP with all three difficulty (getting all easy correct, almost all medium (at most 1 wrong), and up to 4 hard wrongs for the weaker areas).

For DI, I've only been using OG questions using mixed difficulty
  • For DS: averaging ~70-80% accuracy getting mostly hard questions wrong
  • Non-DS: averaging ~80% accuracy
Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks again

For Quant, seeing whether you can "use" the answer choices could be useful sometimes. Consider checking out Manhattan-Prep's 6th Edition for CR as well. For RC, becoming familiar with how inference questions work could also be useful.
