Well gang, I used the sniper approach and by the good grace of god it paid off. I have been admitted at the University of Washington with a partial scholarship. UW is a great campus and, thanks to a $150M donation, will be expanding its facilities significantly over the next few years. UW took first place at the Pac10 case competition, ranks #5 in entrepreneurship, has solid ties with the asian business community in the Pac Northwest, doesn't cost a fortune, and also offers top 10 programs in medicine, law, and several other graduate disciplines.
After all said and done, I thought my chances were slim at best because of a very low GMAT score (the school's mean is a 680 and I scored a 500, then retook for a 640). The key is to
really nail your essays and show an unusually keen interest in the program.
This thread may help for those of you targeting schools you might consider to be out of your league:

Regarding the GMAT Club party 2007, I am sorry to have missed you guys (especially Pelihu and U2Lovergirl) in SF. Fact is, I decided to cancel my flights to Indiana and SF to spend an extra week with my family celebrating in the Colorado rockies.
Congrats to everbody else on getting admitted to your target schools. Let's keep the energy alive in this forum over these final few months before matriculation.
