Hi experts,

I have a month left for my GMAT exam. I have scored between 690-730 in the mocks by Experts Global but I took the GMAT Prep mock and ended up at a 640.
With a month left and the target score being 740 or above, I could really use some advice. I'm willing to put in a dedicated 6 hours a day.

At first, I thought taking too many mocks will help but I don't see the improvement, instead my mock score is falling

my first suggestion is take ne more mock(official GMAT prep) immediately and then look if the score is still same.
Quite a time a shift from one mock type to another fluctuates the score.
Evaluate your performance on the basis of those 2 mocks score(official) and then for Quant focus on speed and accuracy. See if you can improve your score in Quant. Quant I personally feel is an easier battle to win in 1 month.
Verbal is equally important and see if you can improve RC speed and then SC

That's really helpful, globaldesi
Funnily I had a 100 percent accuracy in this mock and lost the battle in SC. Usually my SC accuracy fares between 75-90 %, RC at 80-90 and CR at 70-90. I'll definitely take one more mock and pick up from there. Thanks again!

Hi Anukritirashi,

Taking too many mocks doesn't really help. You'll just be repeating the same mistakes. You need to actually work on improving your weaker areas by analyzing the mistakes in the mocks, going through the solutions and identifying where you actually went wrong. It might sound exaggerating but there's no harm if you spend 2-3 hours in analyzing the solutions. The intention has to be to narrow down the gaps if any. There's no point in taking mocks without working on weaker areas as there won't be any significant improvement in the score.

Having said that, I would suggest you to stick with the official mocks for the next one month. The official mocks are the most reliable ones and if you plan them accordingly, the 6 mocks have to be sufficient. If you need any help on how to plan your studies for the next one month and when to take the mocks, you can get in touch with me over a call. All the best :)

Hello Anukriti,

A score of 640 or 640+ in the diagnostic story tells the entire story about how well prepared you are for the GMAT official test and how to change the gear now to meet the target score in reality.

With my GMAT tutoring, guidance, and counseling experience, we have to accept a fact with a pinch of the salt that diagnostic/ mock test scores are above then what one should expect in real test. There is often dropping in the score. Some students have even experienced a drop of 100 pointers. It is one of the realities, and your preparation should not sideline this fact.

You can schedule a Free counseling session for 20 mins with one of our experts:https://calendly.com/mathrevolution/1-on-1-session for detailed advice on your current study plans

A couple of things that can be a noticeable barrier to your scores would be some or all of the below.

• Inefficiency by using time-consuming Conventional method to tackle DS and PS questions still
• No expert support (maybe) who can tutor, analyze, and guide you during your learning especially on hard level questions while stably hitting middle-level questions.
• Lack of many updated questions and practice in the recent exam trend
• Not well aligned with time to solve questions.

Since we are a math expert, we will recommend you go through our post on the GMAT club: Breakdown of GMAT math questions and types: https://gmatclub.com/forum/overview-of- ... l#p1641411

We recommend that you must learn the Variable Approach for solving DS questions and the IVY approach for solving PS questions in order to improve your accuracy and save time while solving the question types.

Register with MathRevolution https://www.mathrevolution.com/member/signup to get access to our 7-day full on-demand course (27 topics, 490 subtopics, and 1,500 questions) for free trial lessons.

700+ level questions https://www.mathrevolution.com/gmat/questionbank are separately available, too. Start with the learning of the concepts. Make a habit of taking notes during the initial learning of the concepts.

The day regular mock tests show the consistent score of Q48+ with V37+, then it will reflect the positive change in the score, and hence, your confidence will boost up. Gradually, with the help of mock tests, you will be able to compete with time and therefore, will be able to learn time-management.
