Micro Distractions - as I like to call it
Not binge watching.
Not vacations.
Not parties.
Just small daily emotional engagements that slowly eat your focus.
A random
WhatsApp conversation.
Checking if someone replied.
Gym friendships turning into long chats.
Scrolling “for 5 minutes.”
Thinking about someone while studying.
Individually they feel harmless. Collectively they destroy depth of focus.
I realised GMAT preparation is less about studying for 6–8 hours and more about protecting mental bandwidth. The exam demands sustained clarity, especially after work when your brain is already tired.
The biggest score jumps for me came not from learning new concepts, but from reducing unnecessary mental noise.
Sometimes discipline is simply deciding what
not to entertain for the next few months.
