Thank you
MBADecoder and
MBAGuide for your feedback’s.
I understand that 1 yr mba does not have internship opportunity. In addition, having just 3 years experience all the more add possibly as a disadvantage.
However , my 3 years of work experience is from a consulting background and I’m looking for accelerating my career through the one year mba.
As I’m from India and don’t have work experience in USA and will not doing any internship there as well, will all these be a demerit if a choose the 1 year mba program ?
Posted from my mobile deviceHi, I spoke to one of my team members who has done the Kellogg one year MBA. I am sharing his inputs here:
After finishing the first quarter for one-year MBAs, you are technically considered a second-year MBA student, which means you go directly into full-time recruiting with the second-year students. While companies don't differentiate between one year and two year MBAs, you would be a bit less prepared. This is because two year MBA students have gone through the internship process, which is roughly the same as the recruiting process- so they have gone through the networking/ interviews/ recruiting once already, so they are better prepared for the recruiting as compared to one year MBA students, esp, if you have never worked in the US.
So, if you want to work in the same industry, then its ok t do a one year MBA, but if you wish to change your industry then a two year MBA will smoothen that process for you
in terms of eligibility- you will need to have studied some business curriculum prior to joining, so you will need to get the adcom's approval before you apply to know whether you fit their criteria.
Hope this helps!
