Hey all —
Long time lurker who has so appreciated all of the incredible information in these forums. I have a couple of somewhat disjointed questions:
- Is it true that pretty much all top MBAs will be taking the online format of the GMAT moving forward? I am looking to apply to Harvard, Stanford, and Wharton in a couple of years, and I just finished the GMAT online exam. It seems like Harvard and Stanford absolutely will, but the Wharton website is somewhat unclear on whether or not this format of the test will be permanently accepted.
- I will be applying to business school after 1.5 years in consulting and then another ~2+ years in private equity. I graduated summa cum laude in a science major at a top 10 school. I just got my score back from the online exam — a 740 (Q49, V42, IR 8). I was getting 750-780 on my practice tests so while I’m pleased with the score, I feel like I could’ve done slightly better. My question is: if I exclusively want to apply to Harvard Stanford Wharton, is it worth retaking the GMAT so I can get my score up to the 750-780 range, especially given that I’ll likely be considered within the context of applicants in the same industry (who many on average have higher GMAT scores)?
Thanks in advance for the help! I basically want to know if a better GMAT score could even marginally help with my application.
