Hi mewalczak33,
Business Schools generally do not care if Applicants take the GMAT more than once, so you likely have nothing to worry about in that regard. Your At-home GMAT Score will only be sent to Schools if YOU select for specific Schools to receive it.
Since you've been scoring at a high level on your recent practice CATs, the section order likely won't impact your performance too much (although the order can sometimes significantly impact certain GMATer's performances) but there are a number of other factors to consider. If you're planning to take the GMAT in the morning, then taking practice Exams at night is NOT realistic (since there are a variety of 'environmental differences' that might inadvertently help or hurt your performance). You should plan to take your practice CATs/mocks at the same time of day (if possible) as when you plan to take your Official GMAT. In addition, you are NOT allowed to use earplugs during the At-home Exam, so you have to train to deal with whatever distractions might occur.
After you've taken your next practice CAT, you should post back here and we can discuss the results.
GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

So.......I took a practice CAT today after an exhausting day of work (Mistake #1) and took a short 15 min nap before taking the CAT (Mistake #2). I did take the exam Quant, Verbal and then IR with no break between quant and verbal (Man that's exhausting).
Quant felt easy but timing missed the mark as I knew I was ahead of time and then one problem sacked me and I had to rush a little bit at the end. Learning is to keep on the gas pedal even when I'm ahead. Must stick with a hard cut off of 3 min max on only a few problems at most. 6 missed, some silly mistakes that I know will be avoided in the real test. Some of the math even midway through the exam was playing mind tricks on me and sometimes I seconded guessed myself, "Can this answer be obtained that easily? Is the problem that straightforward or is the GMAT voodoo at play?"
Verbal was a mind melting exercise. It felt difficult but again timing didn't go 100%. I missed 4 of the last 6 and 2 of the last 3 as a direct result of rushing. Was not expecting the last 3 Q's to be on a passage so had to skim passage and ultimately it didn't work. I typically miss 1 maybe 2 RC but this time I missed 3. SC continues to plague me as I missed 5 of the 10 total missed on verbal. Need to deep dive to see if there is a pattern.
After verbal came IR which I pushed through. My last IR was 90+ percentile and I feel confident for IR with an engineering background. It's never really given me trouble in the past (and I get a calculator so woo!!)
Anyway what you're probably reading this for......my score......Q50 V40 - 740 - Extremely happy with the score because it didn't feel like it went well from a verbal standpoint yet I mustered a 40. Also the entire day didn't go well with work and fatigue etc......so feeling pretty confident going into the real thing. My last 3 tests have been 40, 39, 40 which I am happy about. Need to secure that 40 on the real thing. Quant has been 50, 50, 51 on previous tests. Again a 50 isnt the end of the world but 51 is extremely attainable and expected.
I scheduled my Online GMAT for next Saturday at 430. Similar time to when I took it today.
Between now and then my plan is as follows.
- Review mistakes on previous tests
- Continue practice problems with primary focus on SC, then CR, then Quant. Read some passages for RC as well.
- Review flashcards
- Look at some less common quant categories to see if there are any low hanging fruit topics I can brush up on quickly.
- Take 1 more practice exam Wednesday of next week.
Test day: Act normal! Relax! Do some easy/medium problems to build confidence and stay sharp. Dominate.
Any thoughts on my plan? My only question is another practice exam worth it? I wonder if it could negatively sway my confidence.
Thanks guys!
