is the online portion of the the MGMAT strategy guides worth it? Or should I just buy a used set of the MGMAT strategy guides?

There is not a ton of questions in the guides themselves (many exercises in the books are not in the GMAT format per se). The online component helps with GMAT-like practice but not a deal breaker, in my view since you can use the OG. You will also miss out on the MGMAT CAT's which are highly regarded and otherwise will cost $50. Unless you are saving more than $100 Off, I would probably just buy the latest edition brand new ones.

They used to be valid for 12 months since activation but only 6 now and I do not really remember how the activation works. (Sorry - I remember it almost unlocking a test every few books I activated but that does not sound right). Hopefully someone with a better memory can chime in.

PS. 6 months should be plenty of time though.

Hi bb and aalphabet, here's the reply to a similar query from Manhattan Prep's Molly

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry!

In the past, as the previous post you cited mentioned, the purchase of in individual GMAT Strategy Guide (labeled 0-9) included access to the 6 practice exams. Following a recent policy change, however, this is no longer the case.

Students who purchase either the "Complete Prep Set" or the "Complete Strategy Guide Set" receive one-year's worth of access to the full set of exams. Students who purchase any of the 9 books individually can register their guides for access to the related topic specific Question Bank (which will appear under the Homework & Practice tab of their Student Center) as well as the 1st free exam.

Students can purchase one-year of access the full set of exams on their own for $49.00 in our online storehttp://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/ ... ice-tests/

I hope this information was helpful! Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Best,
Molly

an update: I called manhattan prep. if you purchase the entire set you have access to online material for an entire year, with no renewal possible. If you purchase the strategy guides separately you have access to the online material for 6 months. Thank you all for your help and wanted to let you all know!
