Hey there,

Would greatly appreciate a profile eval and help understand my chances at a US top20 admit.

Generic Stats:

26 y/o

Academic:
- GMAT Score: 690 at the moment, eyeing to get it over 730.
- B. Tech (Computer Engineering) from a tier 2 institute.
- CGPA: 7.07/10

Full-time work experience:
- Working for the past 3 years at one of the fastest-growing startups in India (Google-Backed)
- Heading operations for their second-largest city in terms of business volume; responsible for city’s supply availability & positioning, partner earnings, GM & city P&L.
- Built and managed a team of 14; prior city launch XP
- USP: Dropped logistics costs sharply to make it the first-ever city to turn Gross Margin positive.

Internship experience:
- Interned with Uber for a period of 10 months during undergrad.
- Interned with a co-living spaces startup for a period of 6 months.

Post-MBA Plans:
Either Management Consulting, or BizOps/PM roles at FAANG/tech world.

From what I can see you have a good profile
Especially your managerial experience and career progress to date.
I can’t see any international experience (but we can use your Google/Uber internship for that... even if it was in India)
I also hope you have some extra curricular hobbies and activities :)

All in all, solid profile and now it is all up to a good GMAT (690 won’t do) and outstanding school apps.
I suggest you concentrate on the GMAT, and then, for a deeper profile analysis:
Please send me your CV, GMAT score and slip, the school wish list and any additional information to ShimriW@ARINGO.com and we can take it from there

So, very quiet today :) let me ask a question and answer it :)

Question:
Is R1 always better than R2?
Answer:
There is a misconception regarding R1 vs. R2. To be honest, most schools keep the same number of places in R1 and in R2 and the chances are kind of similar. What is the best? Well
R1 is better in terms of project management – you will know in November what is happening with you, and should you target any R2 schools.
BUT, R2 beats R1 any day, if your R1 application is not maximized. For example, your chances are higher, in any school, in R2, if your GMAT is 20 points higher, or your essays are better

OK, I will ask myself one more question 😊
(and then, we can close the session if no questions today!)

Question
How can I overcome a low GMAT / GPA score?

Answer
Schools look for a number of factors, and the GMAT/GPA is just one (important but one) of those… for exmaple: if you can show you are:
• Smart & Dependable with an interesting professional experience
• Have a vision on why MBA and what are your career goals
• Show lots of school interest & motivation
• And have broad horizons (hobbies / volunteering)

This will all make you an appealing candidate…

Sounds like a great profile but I need to know more... (managerial experience, international experience, extracurricular?)
Canada - any school - Rotman, Mcgill, Schulich -> any!
US -> it depends on the above questions... FOR SURE any top 20 schools (UNC, Mccobs, Foster), and probably you can/should aim for higher-ranked schools (Duke, Cornell, Tuck, Darden, Ross...)
Send me all your details to Shimriw@ARINGO.com and I will try to give you a deeper review!

Great, thanks for the heads up. Since, I’m not planning to get into consulting - how much does the IR score matter? Asking since I scored miserably in the IR section due to a glitch (all because of nervousness -__-)

WOW, IR 1, that is very annoying, but obviously, due to your high total score, it does not represent your ability.

Schools usually look for IR > 4 and AWA > 4 but as I said, your 750 will overcome it, as long as you explain it in the optional essay
