Organization president: The stationery and envelopes used in all of the mailings from our national headquarters are made from recycled paper, and we never put anything but letters in the envelopes. When the envelopes have windows these windows are also made from recycled material. Therefore the envelopes and thus these mailings are completely recyclable.

a. All the paper used by the organization for purposes other than mailings is recycled.
b. The mailings from the organization's national headquarters always use envelopes that have windows.
c. The envelope windows made from recycled material are recyclable.
d. The envelopes and stationery used in the organization's mailings are always recycled.
e. The organization sends mailings only from its national headquarters.

I am having some trouble between 2 choices and I end up choosing the wrong one. Can some try this out . I'll post he oa later. Thanks.

Two of the alternatives mention that the paper is recycled which is not true(A,D) there is no support in the text of that argument. The president says that they use envelopes made from recycled paper but does not say whether they recycle the envelopes or not.

B) "When the envelopes have windows..."hence, they don't have windows all the time

E) No support in the text

C is correct.

Which alternatives are you having trouble to choose between?

For me too, d looks more close...C is talking specific to window material, where as D is more general, saying all the materials are recyclable.

nice question!
Conclusion - Therefore the envelopes and thus these mailings are completely recyclable.

(C) & (D) one choice talks about recyclable and the other goes to say "..... are always recycled"
well who cares if everything is recycled, we care more about if its "recyclable"

hope that makes some sense?

The missing link between premise and conclusion is that the premise states the envelope windows are always recycled (note that it's not mentioned that they are recyclable)

The conclusion states that all envelopes are recyclable..

Therefore the assumption that the envelope windows are recyclable makes the conclusion valid and warranted.

C it is.

conclusion is envelopes and mailing are completely recyclable.

Negate C.

envelope windows made from recycle material are NOT recyclable.

the conclusion falls apart.
Try this with rest of the options and it doesn't work.

IMO C.

a. All the paper used by the organization for purposes other than mailings is recycled. Out of scope
b. The mailings from the organization's national headquarters always use envelopes that have windows. Out of scope
c. The envelope windows made from recycled material are recyclable. Correct. We have to justify that the envelopes are recyclable. We are told that they are made from paper which is recyclable and the only thing missing is to know whether the windows are recyclable too.
d. The envelopes and stationery used in the organization's mailings are always recycled. We do not care if they are recycled or not, the only thing we want to know is whether they are recyclable.
e. The organization sends mailings only from its national headquarters. Out of scope

I am leaning towards C option for the below reasons.
Firstly, On negation of option C completely destroys the conclusion that all are RECYCLABLE.
A - Irrelevant
B - Irrelevant
C- Yup it is .
D- we don't know if recycled is recyclable both are same.
E- Irrelevant.
Hence, My go is C from POE and Negation technique.
