Total number of employees = 1000
Number of female employees = (52/100)* 1000 = 520
Number of male employees = 480
Number of female employees in research = (40/100) * 520 = 208
Number of employees in research = (60/100)*1000 = 600
Number of male employees in research = 600 -208 = 392
Number of male employees not in research = 480 - 392 = 88

Total = 1000
Female = 52% = 520=> Male = 480
Female Research = 40% of 520 = 208
Total Research = 600 = Female Research+Male Research => Male research = 600-208 = 392
Female = Female Research+Female No Research => Female No Research = 520-208 = 312
Total No Reseach = 400 = Female No Research+Male No Research => Male No Research = 400-312 = 88.

Females = 520 ; Males = 480

Research = 600 ; Non Research = 400

Females working in Research = 208 (ie, 40% of 520) ; Males working in Research = 392 (ie, 600 - 208 )

Males not working in Research = 88 ( ie, 480 - 392 )

Hence, answer will be (E)..

(from the matrix) 9% of 1000 = 90 (nearest 88)

No need to calculate actual value for each entity.
