It feels uneasy giving advice, because in the case of Booth, the essay can be taken to so many directions, and is so unbelievably individual (that's also why I think it's genius, really
). I'm sure that if you ask 10 people, you'll get 10 different answers about what those people chose to emphasize through this channel. Honestly, I would do what feels comfortable and authentic for me, trying to add value and depth to the other parts of the application (while avoiding redundancy). In my essay, I always asked myself: Does AdCom get to know me through my essay? I kept fine-tuning the essay until I reached an holistic product and a positive answer.
No sure if this helps...
Anyways, all the best to you! Good luck!

I am drafting essay for R2 Booth. Anyone willing to chime in for this question? I would really appreciate.
I am deep diving into my personal side while trying to answer the essay question. Still the essay would include few professional experience as well. However, the story would be driven more by personal aspects. Is it ok to focus on personal aspects more on the essay, if it fits well? In addition to some glimpse of professional side in the essay, I will anyways be answering those short term and long term goal sections.
Yes, it does help. I got my answer. Now, I have hope
