It feels uneasy giving advice, because in the case of Booth, the essay can be taken to so many directions, and is so unbelievably individual (that's also why I think it's genius, really 8-)). I'm sure that if you ask 10 people, you'll get 10 different answers about what those people chose to emphasize through this channel. Honestly, I would do what feels comfortable and authentic for me, trying to add value and depth to the other parts of the application (while avoiding redundancy). In my essay, I always asked myself: Does AdCom get to know me through my essay? I kept fine-tuning the essay until I reached an holistic product and a positive answer.
No sure if this helps...
Anyways, all the best to you! Good luck!

Guys congrats on your admits. I bet it must be really exciting.

I am drafting essay for R2 Booth. Anyone willing to chime in for this question? I would really appreciate.

I am deep diving into my personal side while trying to answer the essay question. Still the essay would include few professional experience as well. However, the story would be driven more by personal aspects. Is it ok to focus on personal aspects more on the essay, if it fits well? In addition to some glimpse of professional side in the essay, I will anyways be answering those short term and long term goal sections.

Thanks IamHope,
Yes, it does help. I got my answer. Now, I have hope ;)

Yep, it's in checklist. - Thats a page you get access to after being admitted. I can't give you URL right now, but just login to student portal, it should be there.

Mine has only a red cross and awaiting status for the enrollment deposit. All other forms are green check marks, including transcripts I uploaded for my application.

Hey idah0 here's the link to the page that has that information on the verification and timelines. Hope it helps!

R1 2018 admit from Canada with a questions on scholarships (for those that received one): In my admission offer their is no mention of any scholarship, just a congrats on admission. I am assuming this means I wasn't fortunate enough to receive one but, I am wondering is there somewhere I can verify? How were those of you that received a scholarship notified?

I have heard that Booth mentions scholarships over the phone but once I got the good news from the adcom my brain kind of zoned out and started doing mental cartwheels and I can't recall the rest of the convo.

All help would be appreciated!

Besides the call, there is also a letter describing the scholarship on the website, together with the admission link.

As SaoMarcos mentioned, the scholarship letter is available in your application status page, though it can be hard to find. Click "View Update" in your application to see your acceptance letter with the virtual confetti. Scroll down to the bottom of the letter and you will see "The Following Letters Are Available for This Account." The first link will be your interview invite, the second will be your decision letter (currently selected), and the final link (if applicable) will be your scholarship letter.

They shipped mine on 12/11. I saw the dreaded "package missed" notice from FedEx on my building yesterday evening. I'm in New York. I would imagine it will be a few more days if you're overseas, but I'd guess you'll have it by the end of the week.

I have no idea what exactly the contents are, but I can tell you that the package is evidently something like 11x14x3 (inches) and it cost way too much to have FedEx reroute it to my office (the latter of which is not Booth's fault).

I wonder if these are for wearing or hanging on your wall. I can't imagine too many people actually wear these on campus or around Chicago.

Hi guys !

I am a second round applicant. Could you guys please share what word count did you submit your essays/presentations with ? I am in the drafting phase staring at about a 1000 words essay but I am aiming for about 800 words essay with some pictures interspersed in between? What do you think ?

Mine was around 1200 words, but I really think that it does not matter - just make sure that you say everything you want to say (but not making it too long).

Thanks a lot Idah0 for your comments.

I understand it's about getting the message across clearly and concisely so I will try to keep it near a 1000 words. Can anyone else also share how long/what formats their essays were ?
