When patients with clinical depression come to Royal Cornhill Mental Health Institute, they are first treated with psychotherapy and antidepressants. Only 40 percent respond to their first treatment. More than 20 percent of depressed people did not respond to any treatment.
If the information given above is true, which of the following statements must be true?
At least 60% of the patients who do not respond to the first treatment respond to some other treatment.
At least 30% of the patients who do not respond to the first treatment do not respond to the subsequent treatments as well.
Of the 40% patients who respond to their first treatment, at least 50% also respond to some other treatment
Of the people who respond to some treatment, the proportion that responds to the first medication is the lowest.
