I've been struggling a tad when reading some of the more confusing worded quant questions as it regards to when to use my combinations vs just taking the normal probability of a grouping. Does anyone have any good reference material I can leverage?

I am sorry to hear that you are struggling in PnC and Probability sections. I was in the same position some time ago and i followed the below given plan to overcome the struggle
Step 1:GMAT Club Math book
Download the GMAT Club Math book and go through the concepts related to Pnc and Probability. We need to cover the basics first.
Step 2:Quant Mega Thread - https://gmatclub.com/forum/ultimate-gma ... 44512.html
Navigate to Combinatorics / Counting Methods section and access all the links under this section , do not skip any link. All the sub osts under this section have valuable information.
Step 3: Practice Questions
In the same "Combinatorics / Counting Methods section" in Quant megathread , there is section for Questions that has links to important questions to practice under each section. Please try all the questions. You would have atleast 75 to 100 questions in total. It may take some time but after this exercise you will not struggle in this section.

Certain types of Permutation/Combination/Probability questions can be approached in more than one way, while others require a specific approach. Thankfully, GMAT writers will sometimes use specific vocabulary as a way to 'clue you in' as to how you might approach the prompt. In some cases, the specific question that you are expected to answer defines how you should perform it.
Do you have any specific prompts that you found difficult to determine which approach to take?
